About Me

Hello! My name is Nozomu from Tokyo, Japan.

I would describe myself as outgoing, optimistic, and cheerful. And also, being a well-organized, clean freak because of Japanese. It is my pleasure to share my knowledge as I have been working for several types of jobs.

What I did to make a living:
- Sales representative for an IT company
- Firefighter for 7 years
- Window cleaner from the top of buildings
- Moving company staff
- Human rights NGO Amnesty International
- Tour guide in Tokyo called a rickshaw driver
- Waiter for a vegan restaurant
- Web design and creating websites

Furthermore, doing volunteer work makes me more comfortable in my life. I did Workaway and WWFFO as well.
Why I started doing volunteer work is just to return the favor that I have received a lot of kindness from people when I had difficulties in my life, like diseases.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been going on travel around the world now. During my trip, I love interacting with people to exchange different cultures, not just visiting sightseen spots. One of the reasons that I travel is to open my mind and get to know new points of view. Therefore, Couchseuerfing is a great platform to feel their own cultures in their own countries. I am looking forward to seeing Couchsurfing hosts and sharing our experiences. Once I come back to Japan, would like to share a room for travelers.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

As a firefighter, I did a lot of firefighting. The most difficult fire in particular was the fire on the fourth basement floor of the data center under construction. I had never seen such a devastating situation. Hundreds of construction workers had soot on their faces and many were having difficulty breathing. The building was still under construction and had no ventilation, so we had to walk through black smoke to get to the fourth basement floor, where the fire started. It took firefighters about 10 minutes to reach the fire, even though their oxygen tanks had a time limit of about 25 minutes. Just 5 minutes of firefighting on the 4 BF, then firefighters taking turns. It took more than 10 hours to put off the fire.
