About Me

hey there,
this profile is for me and my family.

I'm Rici. I'm curious about the world: What is it like now? How did it become that way? Where are we heading to? How can we make it a better place? I try to be open-minded as much as possible and to understand different perspectives of the world.
I am especially curious about power structures, feminism, eco-philosophy, food systems, and regenerative economy ideas. These days I spend most of my days with my family and work life. When I'm not in my head or at work I enjoy spending time with crafts and in nature.

My partner Goody is a fun and clever bike mechanic who can fix almost anything thanks to his creativity.
He speaks English, Farsi, Turkish, Kurdish and some Greek. Sometimes he is a DJ. Always he is up for a good party.

We live in Copenhagen with our two kids (6 & 4).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I always meet nice, open-minded people. The trust and help I experienced via couch surfing helped me to keep an open heart, be hopeful and see things from different perspectives.

Now, I mostly want to give back and share our beautiful little home the way I have been invited so many times. I know that it can be tricky to travel with kids. This is why I mostly want to invite families to stay with us.

Interests

These days I think a lot about how to implement my values in our little faily life in a big city. It can be tricky ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

*--> you might have noticed that I have no hair. This is caused by a non-contagious autoimmune condition called alopecia areata. It is the immune system mistakenly seeing my hair roots as foreign invaders and attacking them. That's what causes the hair loss. So bald spots on the head appear. My form is the most severe form of it. It's called alopecia areata universalis: I've lost nearly all my hair, including my eyebrows and eyelashes.

Generally, I like hair, but I'm fine without it as well :)

I find it really important that people know about it. This actually is a very common disease but for loads of different reasons most patients hide their bald spots or wear wigs. So you won't know that "nearly five million people in the United States alone are affected by alopecia areata, the same number as those who suffer from psoriasis."

If you'd like to read more about it I can recommend you listen to Anna explaining Alopecia to her school: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rlqh3DJzJqs or just ask me.

OK, that was my short alopecia awareness input.
I'm much more than that, but this is quite an interesting part of me that (sometimes) influences my life a lot.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am mostly looking to host families. That is because we do have two young kids ourselves. So we have all the gear and all the tips and we don't mind the mess and the noise ;)

With us, you can enjoy a hangout on the playground, a walk in the forest or a cosy movie night.
We also know quite a lot of tips for exploring Copenhagen and the green areas outside of town with kids.

If you don't have kids and you think that we sound like fun people you are very welcome to reach out to us. We can skip the playground ;)

I treat a guest and a host like a friend, and I hope we get to laugh together :)

Countries I’ve Lived In
