About Me

I'm a polite, 59-year-old gentleman who enjoys meeting people from around the country and around the world. I love to laugh and make other people laugh, and I'm very friendly and upbeat. I don't smoke or do any recreational drugs. I enjoy flying airplanes and giving people aerial tours of Atlanta as well as helping people find their way around our city.

Before requesting to stay with me, please read my profile and information in the "My Home". It's important that you read the "Additional information" section of that page carefully.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My wife lives in China most of the year, so I have a nice guest bedroom to share with its own bathroom and I also have a couch to share. I enjoy helping students and others who are traveling on a budget and might enjoy meeting and sharing stories of their travels with me. In addition, I am learning to speak Mandarin Chinese and enjoy practicing my Spanish and always appreciate any tips or advice.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies I like include comedies, adventure films, documentaries and especially independent/foreign films. If you found the movies "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" or "Airplane!" to be funny - you'll like my kind of humor! I like a few different kinds of music - especially rock and roll. Favorite bands/singers include Journey, Bryan Adams, The Eagles, Damn Yankees, Gloria Estefan, John Denver, and many others. I don't read many books, but those that I do are often non-fiction and cover topics from history to culture to exploring our human emotions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have made a lot of people laugh - and that's very rewarding to me. I'm too humble to talk about the time I saved a busload of drowning school children or the time I spent a month doing reading-for-the-blind...

Teach, Learn, Share

I enjoy teaching aviation and airplanes to anyone interested. I love to take people flying in my 4-seat airplane (see some pics in my photos) and let them have some time at the controls. I also enjoy taking people on a driving tour of Atlanta - when traffic permits!

I can share advice about places of interest around Atlanta and places to hike and enjoy the outdoors. I’m not a nightlife or bars person so I don’t have advice on dance clubs or bars but there are many in Atlanta that Google knows all about. 😁

Sharing adventures is wonderful - whether traveling by plane or car or on foot. It's great to learn something new every day - be it small or large. I especially enjoy learning little pieces of insignificant trivia. Just ask me why we use the expression "being in the limelight". You might be surprised! If you enjoy deep conversations about topics you are interested in, I hope we'll get to explore those topics.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Humor, laughter, flights in my airplane (if I've flown to your town). I host more than I surf but it’s fun to meet up with local people to learn about local culture.

Countries I’ve Visited

Bahamas, Belize, Canada, China, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, England, Israel, Mexico, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Turks and Caicos Islands
