CURRENT MISSION

I am a contemplative person who likes to observe reality. The greatest realities that I have over experienced directly are human persons. Interesting human persons improve my life, therefore I want to know as many of them as is reasonably possible.

ABOUT ME

I have spent my life seeking wisdom, and I have had some great experiences. Unfortunately, the quest for wisdom has required so much of my time that I have not been able to achieve much else, but at least if I die today, I will die without hurting anyone. If I live another twenty or thirty years, then maybe I will do some good.

Interests

I am a libertarian. I highly value my own freedom and I respect the autonomy of others. I am not a liberal who wants to take from the rich and give to the poor, nor am I like some conservatives who want to force others to behave morally. I believe that some actions are morally evil, but I want persons to be morally virtuous and thus freely choose not to do evil, rather than being forced to behave by government. Also, I prefer reason to emotion. We should recognize the importance of emotions in human life, and not disparage them, but we should not be enslaved to our emotions.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Ruth Zerbib was an amazing person. I had the joy, honor, privilege of knowing her during the last six years of her life. Marie-Dominique Philippe was an amazing person. I had the joy, honor, privilege of studying under him for three years shortly before he died.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe in and love GOD the Creator. Because there is One Source of everything that exists, everything that exists must fit together somehow. If it seems not to fit together, the defect is in our understanding, not in reality. Reality is perfect, and I strive to understand it as best I can. History and Philosophy help me in this. My favorite philosophers are the three A's: Aristotle, Thomas Aquinas and Ayn Rand. My favorite historian is Niall Ferguson.
