About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling the world to see unique places, meet vibrant people, eat great food, and enjoy art :-)

ABOUT ME

I'm a writer from NYC and excited about traveling around the world, enjoying new experiences and meeting interesting, dynamic people.

When I travel, I try to get the touristy stuff out of the way quickly. The pics with landmarks behind me, the overhead shots of food, museums. It's all necessary but I try to move past it quickly because what I REALLY want to do is connect with local people. I believe the heart of a city is in its citizens and you’ll usually find me going for walks or at a bar trying to strike up conversation with locals. I’m all about making connections.

Balance is important to me: if I’ve vanished, leaving my drink at the bar, it’s because I went off to read or write in solitude. I’ll pay the tab before I disappear however. And you can finish my drink haha.

I want to lose myself in the world and its beautiful people :-)

PHILOSOPHY

Love life, love others, and love yourself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can host from time to time. I also meet with CSers when I travel.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met my friend Hansel through CS and we've become best friends. Whenever I go to Puerto Rico, I stay with him and his family (his mother treats me like a son). I've had nothing but fun hosting so far and will continue to host when my schedule permits me to.

Interests

Literature, writing, cinema, the arts, fashion, sports, food.

I volunteer at an animal adoption agency in Soho called Animal Haven.

Salsa dance classes.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite movies are the epic kind, movies like Braveheart, Last of the Mohicans, 300, The Departed. These are movies that spend time on character development, context and take the viewer on a journey.

I love hip hop, jazz, salsa, and soul.

This Boy's Life (Tobias Wolff), The Second Death of Unica Aveyano (Ernesto Mestre-Reed), Just Kids (Patti Smith). I just graduated from one of the best writing programs in the country and I'm working on two manuscripts. I love to read all genres but my favorite is mystery/detective and memoir.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2014 I realized my childhood dream of visiting Paris. It was my dream destination after it captured my imagination through pictures and movies. I figured, "I'm 32 - what am I waiting for?" I booked a flight and spent 9 days in Paris and it was so magical to me. The people, the streets, the history. I visited again in 2017 and loved it just as much as the first time. I’m sure Paris and I will continue our relationship for years to come.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach anything related to English. Reading and writing are my passion.

I'd love to learn how to cook different foods from different cultures.
