About Me

New Update 11.24.22

Sawaht dee fellow travellers,

I am personally not available nor in Thailand for a good while.
HOWEVER, I have a close friend who is a hill tribe teacher and musician.
He has indicated that he has a work exchange need for English teachers for kids in the hill tribe school in north Thailand, Chiang Rai provence.
I have done this many times, also with my CS guests and work exchange visitors.
Please, no riff riff or freeloaders.... you need to contribute; it's not a free thing.
Basic bedding and meals in some capacity is provided.
This is an incredible opportunity to see and experience the real Thailand.
It may be possible to have an extended, more permanent job there too.

Happy Travels,

Dear Travellers,

*** Update***
Please see the update at the end of this profile for a special opportunity if you are interested!

Welcome to The Golden Triangle / North Thailand and Happy New Year!
Wishing all you travellers a happy, fun, educational, safe, healthy, and enlightening trip in 2018!
I am just back from a very long trip myself; back home and am accepting guests again. It's really nice to be back home in my little village.

Mostly my guests are "work exchange" travelers. However, it is possible that I can accept short term CS guests (1-3 days) that would like to do short term work exchange like helping with the house work, or some cooking and kitchen work, food, and beer, etc.. - not just stay for free.

You can see, I have hosted many CS and WA guests (about 300+?). Unfortunately though, most Couch Surfers think I have a free hotel. What is instead, is more like a free small commune at times - even with 1-3 people. That's the philosophy anyway. Nevertheless, everyone needs to contribute to some housecleaning, cooking, food and beer etc. If you would like to stay longer than 3 days, we can upgrade to a work exchange situation (I can give details about that later). I have a nice little humble, quaint house in a beautiful little village in "the real" Thailand where there are no tourists or travelers, next to an Akha Hilltribe community. In the are there are a variety of scenic and cultural sights to behold (1/2 - 1 day trips).

Also...make certain that you want to come and visit; don't make plans to come and stay at my house (which effects my daily plans) and then just cancel because you are not sure and decide to do something else.
Hhhmmm... maybe I wanted to take a trip or do something but don't because CS guests are coming - and then can't! Maybe other travelers wanted to come and stay and can't. It's rude, and it wastes my time. Make sure you want to come, then ask if I am available; confirm, then come. Common courtesy, yes??? :)))

Anyway, welcome!
Good for you for wanting to experience the north of Thailand! It's the best I think!

If you have any questions or concerns, or special needs, please feel free to ask.
Looking forward to meeting you and making even more good friends from around the world!

ABOUT ME
I am a single, vegetarian, straight, liberal, ecology minded, man.
I like to paint, play music, tend the garden, and embrace life.
I also have many projects I am working on like writing, teaching, business, and self education interests.

PHILOSOPHY
I am an artist of many sorts; music, writing, painting, gardening, as a matter of fact, art is a philosophy for me - there is an art to everything you do if you've the right attitude. I am a long term strict vegetarian, single world traveller. I enjoy learning several foreign languages and meeting people with similar philosophies who come from around the world, and sharing ideas and thoughts and friendships. Basically my life is simple, clean, fun, colorful, and educating, with a touch of wild behaviour on them full moons ;)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Why?
To meet different and interesting people from all over the world and learn about their culture and language. Also, to make new good friends.

I have visited a couch surfer host in Yukon, Canada once, and made a CS friend in Trieste, Italy too. Otherwise, I've just hosted a few hundred travelling souls.

Interests

I have many interests that I am participating in and continuing to learn about:
Organic gardening, teaching kids, some business, languages, cooking, Thai massage therapy, painting, writing, music, home development, meditation, yoga, and kama sutra, dancing, and celebrating life. I try do all of these things as much as possible, to improve, enjoy life, and to share and help others too.

Music, Movies, and Books

Documentaries, Shogun, Dances With Wolves, Bridge on the River Kwai, Fantasia, The Old Man and the Sea, Topo Gigio (Italian magical rat puppet), The Bible, The Koran, Betty Boop cartoons, Rolling Stones, Beatles, Ravi Shankar, classic rock and blues as well as any other kind of music except for disco and military marching music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've visited and explored into and around the Pyramids and the Mayan ruins in Egypt and Guatemala. Attended several Rolling Stones shows front row ;)- , travelled all over Alaska, Canada and the U.S. on my Harley, and succeeded in traveling around the world - and half way back. I've also survived many Alaska winters down to -35C !!! .... maybe that's why I live in Thailand now?

Teach, Learn, Share

I can share and teach what I know, especially my activities and life in Thailand. I like to learn and share talents and experiences from my visitors and friends too.

What I Can Share with Hosts

If I visit you, you can expect me to be polite, respect your home and customs and life. I am always happy to contribute with some cleaning, cooking, and share some stories and experiences - especially over a bottle of French wine!
