About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a place to live in Amsterdam whilst I intern with a Dutch NGO for 6 months

ABOUT ME

About me? I'm a tiny little person, 5ft 2" but i'm quite a lot of fun! I'd describe myself as curious, i love to travel, and am interested in new experiences - like couch surfing! :oD I read loads, procrastinate beyond reason, have a vast array of useless facts stored away in my brain. Oh and i can't spell! Also I am a Taurus, so typically headstrong

PHILOSOPHY

Pursue what makes you happy. I want to look back on my life and smile, go to loads of festivals and say yes more often to things you initially can't be bothered to do - they are usually the best days

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted tons of people in the past but at the moment I'm searching a host myself whilst I make the move from Bristol to Amsterdam this August 2015

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Basically i was in Israel in the summer of '08, crashing on the couch of a friend of a friend which i thought was really pretty cool of him, and he was like, 'No bother, people do this all the time' and told me about couch surfers. So i thought amazing way to meet lots of lovely travelling people while i'm tied down doing my degree, i'll sign myself up. 7 years on I have made some lovely acquaintances and friends from around the world and would recommend Couchsurfing to anyone.

Interests

I love to read and take a keen interest in global current affairs and human rights, so I combined these interests together and studied a Masters in Postcolonial studies at the University of York. I graduated at the end of 2012 then moved to Paris to learn French, then Burkina Faso to work on a development project. Great experience which inspired me to work doing something I feel inspired by - hence the move to Amsterdam to intern for an NGO. I am a collectomaniac of new music and I LOVE cycling and generally being outdoors. And Belgium beers!

Music, Movies, and Books

(Books) Don't Lets go to the Dogs Tonight, Dark Materials trilogy, A Fine Balance, A Bend in the River, the Poisonwood Bible, generally postcolonial literature and Conflict Reporting, especially Ryszard Kapuściński.
I love a variety of music, influenced my the places I have travelled and the people I have met. Recently worked in a bar that played lots of rock and roll so loving that at the minute.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went travelling when i was 19 and didn't come home for quite sometime, and when i did i think i managed to leave my heart somewhere as i've felt restless ever since. Bloody amazing, so many special memories. I skydived once which was thrilling. I also passed my degree, and my Masters. This seems amazing considering how hard it was :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I'll tell you anything you'd like to know. I love history and architecture so when showing you round my city I'll be an informed guide. I definitely know a lot of cool bars :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

My personality - I love interesting conversations about life, love, international relations, conspiracy theories from time to time but I'm a bit of a cynic. I'm not short of opinions and love debating but I respect everyone's right to their opinion.
