About Me

I like to laugh a lot about anything or anybody, including myself, and to benefit from every moment that life brings to me. I'm a very simple and relaxed person. I can't live without travelling, learning about other cultures and how people live in other parts of the world. I'm really calm when people around me are nervous, I'm kind of easy-going. I'm not very talkative unless I have something meaningful to say, and I think I'm good at listening people. I believe that people are fundamentally good.
I'm a mother of a beautiful girl, and I lear everyday with her. I like to take time to see the world through her eyes. My husband is from Ecuador, so we are a multicultural and multilingual family.
I've studied communications, but I don't have a straight trajectory. I have interests for international cooperation and development, for environmental and human rights causes. I actually work as a freelance in communications, but most of my time is spent for my daughter.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think Couchsurfing is one of the best way to travel, by enjoying the local culture, meeting local people and have an authentic experience of the country! I have met some awesome people through CS since 2008, people who hosted me, people I hosted, people I met in CS meetings or other people I just met without surfing, I have developed true friendships with CS members. I'm still in touch with a lot of people I've met through CS through the years.

Interests

Laughing, reading anything, vegetarian cooking, eating - especially new things, laughing, writing, listening and playing music, dancing, dreaming, walking, swimming, sleeping, discovering, enjoying, drinking, loving and being loved in return, partying, travelling (of course), scuba diving, laughing, breathing, playing with dogs, hiking, contemplating, meeting new persons, smiling, singing...

Music, Movies, and Books

I used to read a lot, mostly novels, since I'm a mother I read a bit less! One of my favorites books series is Harry Potter, I'm a huge fan.

I like to listen to music from many parts of the world (and dancing to it!), including reggae, latin music (bachata, merengue, salsa, cumbia, reggaeton), afro-beat, and folk music.

I haven't watched a lot of movies recently, but in general I like to International movies and Dramas.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Playing djembe on the beach in Benin with rastafarians, preparing a "poutine" (typical meal from Quebec) with Belgium fries, swimming in cenotes in Yucatan, drinking a Guinness a day in Dublin, walking two hours to visit an abbaye in France, playing skipping rope with child in Dominican Republic, scuba diving in the Philippines and swimming with sea lions in Galápagos!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to help people learning French or Spanish, I can show you how to cook meals from Quebec or elsewhere, I can tell you about my culture and culture from parts of the world I've visited.
I always like to learn customs from your country and understand it, and please, please tell me how to fold properly a bottom sheet!
Most of all but I like to share about travelling experiences and anecdotes, I'd like to try understanding your vision of life, world, humans, your culture, what you like and dislike...

What I Can Share with Hosts

I will always try to cook at least one meal for my host, I sometimes bring maple treats for them, and I will make sure to have good conversations with them. I consider it basical to clean what I've used and it's easy to help cleaning the house when needed.
What I like best is when I get the chance to host back someone who hosted me, but it has almost never happened!
