About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to enrich my life and the lives of others, to host people exploring new places and to talk about all things possible - to be open to learning and listening
ABOUT ME
I enjoy walking, camping, reading, movies, music, eating out, catching up with friends and travel....
For a long time I have wanted to do more travelling overseas and 9 years ago the adventure began when I went to Europe and the UK and 7 years ago I lived/worked in China for 6 months. I loved it all. In 2014 i travelled to Italy, Germany, Turkey and from there round the coast of Greece, Montenegro, Slovenia and many more Balkan countries to the Czech Republic. This leaves Spain, Ireland, Scotland and parts of England for next time!! Can't wait ;)
15 years ago we hosted a family from Austria which was great because at the time we were looking after an orphaned wallaby- a great experience to share. I enjoy sharing my life with others and like communal living (thanks to coming from a big family of Mum Dad and the 7 kids)
(Although my profile says I'm logged on in Melbourne, Ballarat is really over an hour's train or car trip from the CBD)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
host when I can and have been involved in a similar group when I travelled in the UK in 2006
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Stayed for a week with a host not far from central London and then was to stay in York but was sick! Have several young friends (and my own 3 young adults) who are very keen couch surfers and hosts- lots of stories of crazy nights!!
Interests
Draw ( beginning), garden and grow vegetables, read, photograph and walk anywhere. Talk to people, parlo Italiano (ma non e bene!) visit museums and galleries...and I'd love to go to the opera, the theatre or a football match in any country.

Music, Movies, and Books
My taste is broad in music, movies and books - generally anything except horror! Historical fiction is a favourite however, especially when I'm travelling, when I love to see movies and read novels about the place I'm in. Recently enjoyed Pompeii, The Blood and the Beauty (the Borgia pope in the 1500s) and The Bastard of Istanbul.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Given birth to 3 beautiful children and watched them grow into the most magnificent people.
Watched the sun set after 10pm on the longest day of the year - at Oban on the west coast of Scotland - with a good bottle of red wine and 3 good friends.
On my 57th birthday I walked along the Great Wall of China up and down to towers many times, then took a flying fox off the wall -what a way to end a magnificent day.
Teach, Learn, Share
Ideally I'd like time to teach you about camping - the Aussie way, and how to catch some fish for breakfast(fingers crossed for luck!)- but that's if it's school holidays and I'm organised! I teach full time.
Then there's the magnificent history here in Ballarat -the birthplace of Democracy in Australia and then there are some fantastic places to take you to explore Ballarat's gold discoveries in the 1850s.
Love to learn about your place and take you to the best spots around here, especially the Art Gallery, coffee shops and Lake Wendouree
