About Me
I am a curious person and I like to get to know, and to learn from you about your perspectives, thoughts and your culture. Be welcome at my place, and thank you for welcoming me at your home!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
What began as a self-therapy against anxciety became an elementary part of my life and personal philosophy
Interests
living and experiencing life, nature, cultures, supportive communities and sustainable living concepts, sharing economy and permaculture, humanitarianism. Learn all I can discover about natural sciences, in particular all about the earth and it's living and not living nature, it's ecology and the universe above us. Not much less I am interested in psychology, sociology, philosophy, politics and religions. I love being away and outdoors. To hike and travel, to connect with nature and the people.

Music, Movies, and Books
I am fascinated and inspired by the curiosity and visionary of the old universal scholars, the drive of the great explorers, the attitude of humanists and philosophers, the spiritual wisdom of meditators, the brilliant minds of so many scientists, and the farsighted human understanding, kindness and care of some special people. They where, and are my teachers, mentors, muses and inspiration. Some of these remarkable women and men enunciated the heart of their view in a, at least in my opinion, quite elaborate way. Here a, yet not complete choice of examples:
The road not taken (R. Frost)
Steps (H. Hesse)
Kosmos (A. v. Humboldt)
Special and General Theory of Relativity (A. Einstein)
Squire von Ribbeck at Ribbeck in Havelland (T. Fontane)
The Ants (J. Ringelnatz)
The Story of the Hammer (P. Watzlawick)
Forty-Two (D. Adams)
Die Abenteuer des Käpt'n Blaubär (Käpt'n Blaubär)
"One More Ride On The Merry Go Round" and "The End Is My Beginning" (Tiziano Terzani) "The Alchemist" (Paulo Coelho)
"The little prince" (Antoine de Saint-Exupérie)
"Factfulness: Ten Reasons We're Wrong About The World - And Why Things Are Better Than You Think" (Hans Rosling)
"Enlightenment Now: The Case for Reason, Science, Humanism, and Progress" (Steven Pinker)
Last but not least: "Philémon and Baucis", the ancient Greek myth's heroes I borrowed my couchsurfing name from.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
What amazes me is less what I have done, but what I experience. Almost every day I am astonished about the beauty of nature outside my house-door. At, day, and at night: To see all these distant stars, realizing that their light traveled thousands of years before reaching their final destination: The retina of my eyes, and my amazed mind.
Loads of vivid memories I have from my travels all around the world, and the people I met there.
