Informazioni generali
Chi sono
I am an Italian postgraduate in Budapest. I just finished my intership with an institute working on human rights and democratic transition. I woukd like to travel while I am here, to discover new places and meet interesting people.
(*updated)I am leaving, but I will know soon where I will be next, therefore if I will have the chance to have my own place, it would be my pleasure to host kind and nice people. But I am still not sure where I will be next. Meanwhile I hope to meet some nice people, and I promise I will pay back your hospitality when I will have the chance.
Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing
Ok, to be honest.. It started with the search of a cheap accommodation (I was not lucky enough to get paid during my internship).
Now I understand that couchsurfing si far more than this, although you need to meet the right people to share and live the city differently.
I do not look for crazy people, alternative, trying to be dramatically different from the others. I just look for the chance to meet the people right for me I could not met in my daily life so far, and to learn even from those that are completely different from me and from what I am looking for (Marcus Aurelius docet).
Interessi
Currently, I am trying to get a job. So, apart from job applications and writing of PhD proposals (Asia Pacific Security), I put a bit aside the other activities (except tango, as long as I am in Budapest).
But I would love, as soon as I settle down, to build up relationships, to meet friends, to participate to nerd things (boardgames, comic-con), but also to do hiking, explore new places, attending social events.
I am also writing articles on geopolitics (for free, poor me :D) on Asia Pacific security. Therefore, if I am hosting, you may find me not that ready in hanging out with you during the day, but just for this.
During my Erasmus in Lisbon I experimented a lot of things, among them: tango, kendo, Chinese calligraphy, archery.. some of them lasted, others couldn't. I hope to start them again when I settle down for a while, and maybe some of you could help me in taking them back ;)

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto
The Cliffs of Moher; Once I left the whole visiting group in Chicago, I took to metro lines (EL), one bus and I hitchhicked a ride just to end up on California Avenue, where Adam Langer settled his book 'Crossing California'. I still managed to get back to my group in time, luckily.
Insegna, impara, condividi
I do not know what I could teach you, I leave this to the others to say.
But I think I can learn a lot, to improve, to go out from my comfort zone, to learn new things from my hosts, to look at things from a different perspective (oh, Captain, my Captain!)
Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa
mmm not sure.. if we can agree on a balance of time between my visiting of the city (I can do that alone if they are tired), and time spent with them sharing experiences, I think we can exchange and share a lot.
We could have a walk in the city, a tea in a bookshop, a stroll near the seaside, a beer with his/her friends, attending an event.. and also chill out at home, talking, reading, listening music, or just relaxing and doing our things.
