I grew up in a narrow Swiss mountain valley but I am an open person very much interested in all kinds of other people and their ways of living. I am a social scientist, who has spent much of my carreer doing research in and about Eastern Europe. I am easily fascinated by almost anything linked to history, culture, language, art, politics, ecology. I can also simply enjoy good company.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I fought corruption in Kyrgyzstan (in vain), hitchhiked across Transnistria, acted in a mixed-language theater play in rural Ukraine, worked on the top floor of a Kyiv high rise, and got lost in Ouagadougou.
