About Me
A FEW RANDOM FACTS ABOUT ME:
At about three, I experienced my first personal crisis. Apparently, I was firmly convinced to be a goat and therefore able to eat the leaves of the surrounding trees. Since my parents didn't think this diet to be the best, they had to confront me with the sad truth that I was only a human being.
Due to hard training at an early age, I am able to imitate an elephant (surprisingly loudly). Of course, I could have chosen to practice maths or learn new languages instead. But my priorities seem to have been slightly different...
I am very bad at estimating the speed of approaching vehicles when crossing the road.
When driving a car, I can't help imitating the sounds of the indicator.
I tend to forget the content I learn for exams just a few weeks afterwards, but still memorise most of the poems I had to learn by heart as a child... Thanks, brain!
I have to admit that I secretly still hold my nose when jumping into water.
AND IF YOU WANT TO KNOW SOME NORMAL THINGS ABOUT ME:
I am a psychology student from Berlin and unfortunately, I am already in my last year (I love going to university).
I grew up in the beautiful Black Forest area in Southern Germany where I also got to know my boyfriend Raphael. We’re a couple since 2007 and first met in the drama group of our school.
After high school, I moved to Paris where I worked as an au pair and learned French. It was a wonderful experience for me - not only did I get to know a great host family, which I still visit twice a year, but I also made many friends and got to know the advantages of living in a big city.
After my year in Paris, I decided to study in Berlin where I have lived since 2013. I live in a shared flat and, at the moment, we don't have enough space to host couchsurfers. But don't hesitate to contact me if you need any advice for your trip to Berlin. I really love this city and its lifestyle!
Last year (2018) I had the great opportunity to study one semester abroad. I spent this time in Brighton (England) and the city has really grown on me.
Unfortunately, Raphael and I are currently in a long-distance relationship. After having lived in my shared flat in Berlin for a few years, he had to move to Düsseldorf last year where he works as a pilot. The reason for mentioning him here so often is that we usually travel together and maybe you will get to know both of us when we meet. :)
In addition to my studies, I work for a research project that examines personality development throughout the life span. Besides, I have been volunteering (for many years) in a project that focuses on children with drug-addicted parents. That's why, once a week, I meet a fantastic nine-year-old girl in order to do something nice with her and to let her be the centre of attention for a few hours.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
What I really like about couchsurfing is the opportunity to get to know people who you (most probably) normally wouldn’t have met and places that you wouldn’t have seen if you just stayed in a hotel and did the same activities as most tourists! :)
If you’re interested in socialising during my stay, I would love to get to know and understand your everyday life, interests, believes and attitudes, dreams and experiences, being convinced that this can broaden my horizon, also (or especially) when they are different from mine. :) But if you’re going to be busy and can’t spend too much time with me, that’s totally fine, too. I always try to be as uncomplicated as possible. :)
Interests
As you can see, I've enumerated a great variety of interests. But of course, I am not a real expert in almost any of these areas. :)
But maybe you know a lot about one of the topics and can share your knowledge or your opinion with me? Or you have always wanted to try one of the listed activities? Or you don't know anything about a certain topic and are curious to learn more about it? Or you have completely different interests that are not at all similar to the ones I have listed?
Whatever the case may be, I am sure that we can learn something from each other and certainly find something that both of us are interested in. :)

What I Can Share with Hosts
Needless to say, I would be very happy to give something back to each and every altruistic host who welcomes me at their place! :)
So please: Don’t hesitate to ask me if I could bring you something from my trip or from Germany!
Here are a few suggestions of what I can share with you:
I would be happy to cook a vegan or vegetarian dish for you!
Of course, I am also willing to share any (subjective) travel or life experiences, my (certainly not exceptionally elaborated) point of view on German society / culture / history / politics, the still memorised bits from my psychology studies or whatever might be of interest to you. :)
Naturally, I would gladly share my elephant imitation skills with you whenever you like. ;)
And I would be especially happy to offer you a “friendly ear”. I would be curious to learn ANYTHING about you, no matter what: something you're passionate about, something that’s bothering you at this very moment, something that nobody knows about you or something everybody knows about you, something that makes you a special person, something you're proud of or something you're ashamed of, something about your family, your friends, other important persons in your life, a song you love, your favourite meal or film or book or animal or just how an average day in your life looks like - it doesn't matter to me! :)
And if all this is too much for you and you don't have time for me / just want to offer me a place to sleep, I am totally happy spending time alone and bothering / disturbing you as little as possible. :)
