ABOUT ME

Hey I'm Darren, I am back in NZ after 6 years being away. I love films and there is rarely a good one I haven't seen so I am always up for going to the cinema. Really into sports, will pretty much play anything but mainly a soccer man, like getting outdoors whenever I can. Nights out are fun but I'm also a fan of just going to a nice cafe for a coffee with a friend. Sucker for board games and my favourite is probably cards against humanity

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Spreading the word and trying to make as many CS friends as I can around the world so that I'll have ties to everywhere in the globe and a reason to visit and learn the culture.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a lot of fun meeting up with other couchsurfers in Melbourne and Auckland, travelling around with them, staying at their places and having incredibly memorable nights out too.

Interests

Sports are good, tennis, golf, basketball, all fun. Big fan of football, both playing and watching. Mainly watch the Premiership, always try catch a Man United game if its on and never miss Ireland playing. Also a big fan of the NFL, go Steelers. Movies are also a big favourite of mine, seen many, will watch any. I like other random things, go-karting, mini golf, kayaking, anything thats outdoors and active is usually good. But I also always up for a night in with friends with a fun board game or a bit wii to embarrass ourselves with.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
Coldplay, Verve, Oasis, Damien Rice, other random stuff that i think sounds good. I also like alot of classical music, especially film scores, anything done by John Williams is naturally amazing!

Films
The Shawshank Redemption, Usual Suspects, The Green Mile, Philadelphia (Pretty much anything with Tom Hanks i guess), all the Die hards, willy wonka and the chocolate factory (he hates those kids so much), schindlers list, indiana jones, seven, almost every Jim Carey film and anything Micheal J Fox has been in!

Sports
Football, eh five a-side football, em fuzball, and of course pro evo (yeah its a sport). also basketball, tennis, american football, badminton

Books
I love love love Harry Potter and I am constantly re-reading them all. I am currently trying to read my way through all of the Terry Pratchett discworld novels. I like a lot of Dean Koontz as well and then a lot of other random stuff.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Made it to the top of the alps which was pretty amazing.....not the actualy getting there, it was cable car all the way baby, but the view at the top, the view was something amazing, like truly nothing I had ever seen before. Makes me desperately want ot go to Nepal and make it to the base camp of Mt Everest.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you all about Ireland and our crazy ways, as well as gaeilge, very very basic though. I also know some mediocre guitar and have a vast knowledge of films and tv including an endless supply of simpsons and futurama quotes.
I like to learn anyting about different cultures and countries, new games, new fashion, new outlooks, new technology. I'd like to know everything, and how it all works.
