It's so great to meet new people all around the world and to be hosted by someone who lives in the place you're travelling to getting all the tips on places to visit, things to see and getting to know the local lifestyle/culture/habits.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A grizzly bear destroying our tents in Valdez, Alaska :)
A couchsurfer host who gives you keys to appt showing a great trust after an hour of meeting
Building a tight friendship through couchsrufing and getting to know so many amazing people!
Teach, Learn, Share
Esp when travelling alone you got 3 options for accomodation:
1) rent an appt/stay at hotel - risk of feeling lonely/being purely turist without taking a glance at the local lifestyle and too much immersed in just monument visiting type of tourism
2) staying at a hostel/sharing with other travellers - more fun as you'll get to know other people and share experience/knowledge, going out together, help each other
3) couchsurfing with someone who lives there - the most efficient way to get to know the place, culture, places to go, things to see, experience the local lifestyle, traditions, learn and see so much more!
