Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Start a permaculture farm in Florida where I can host CSers!
ABOUT ME
I'm from the Everglades, so I'm really used to heat, flat land, mosquitoes, beaches, swamp, and tropical fruit. I love introducing people to this part of the world! There is much more to see than Disney!
PHILOSOPHY
I live to learn and experience. I live to make connections with people, plants, and places. I want to learn as much as I can about the world and myself. I challenge myself and try new things often.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surfed couches out west in 2012 and 2013. That's when I fell in love with CS. Moving into an apartment soon in Naples, where I'll be able to share space. Until then, I'd love to meet up and share stories if you are in the area.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Started surfing in Portland, OR in summer 2012- that was a great decision! Met some wonderful people and that city is amazing! Surfed a bunch more times in California (also a very awesome experience) and have attended a few CS events, which are always a good time!
Interests
Plants. All kinds. Native, exotic, ornamental, edible, medicinal. Love me some plants. Love eating them, growing them, marveling at them, just being around them. I also like learning new languages, reading lots of books, exploring new places, meeting new people, expanding my homesteading/primitive skills, and finding local music that I can dance to.

Music, Movies, and Books
Into the Wild, Seven Pounds, and the Emperor's New Groove are some movie favorites. As well as anything that Jim Carrey has ever done. I love any music that is danceable- reggae, dubstep, bluegrass, funk, etc. I really like discovering new bands & musicians in new places. I'm open to all genres of music. The book list could go on for quite a while, but my main loves are Edward Abbey (nature writing/environmental activism/social criticism), Tom Robbins (psychedelic fiction/social criticism), Stephen Harrod Buhner (plants/healing/spirituality), and Linda Hogan (Native American nature writing).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Skipped my college graduation ceremony to lead a whitewater rafting trip. Started a subtropical food forest on my university's campus (I can take you on a tour if you like!). Provided disaster relief after Superstorm Sandy hit New York City. Kayaked with alligators for a living. Traveled across the country via Craigslist rideshares. Hiked the entire Appalachian Trail in 2017.
Teach, Learn, Share
I am a certified Permaculture designer and I work on an organic farm in Naples. I love teaching about wild edible plants and creating food forests. I'm also a member of the Collier Fruit Grower's Club, so you can join me at a monthly fruit-filled meeting if the timing is right. I love to share info about the ecology of the Everglades and tanning animal hides. In the process of learning how to make all kinds of fermentations (kombucha, beer, wine, kim chi, etc). I'm really into learning additional primitive skills like natural construction, tool making, medicine making, etc. Always interested in learning foreign languages and recipes. Love to ride bikes, take hikes, and paddle kayaks.
