About Me

CURRENT MISSION

less is more

ABOUT ME

Gary and I have been married coming up on 20 years this September. We don't have any children. We have a cat named Maya. We thrive on the outdoors and nature and often feel more at home there than we do in the cities we have lived. We have backpacked in the Canadian Rockies and canoed in North Saskatchewan. Our longest canoe trip was 17 days. We are both Capricorns and what you might call extroverted introverts. Definitely not type A personalities. We gave up our careers in the financial industry 10 years ago to seek out our ideal lifestyle and we are in the process of fulfilling that. We sold our house in Calgary and broke off any ties we had (not friends and family), packed up our VW Westfalia and traveled across Canada interviewing artists. We ended up doing several trips around Canada and tallied about 150 artist interviews.

PHILOSOPHY

Less is more and the simple life is the best life ever. There is too much "me" in the world today and not enough "we". We need to throttle our egos once and for all and come together as an earthly community to stand up and face the massive challenges we have. We look forward to the opportunities to create and talk about creating new ways to live on earth.

Covid-19 policy
We are both fully vaccinated and are very respectful when it comes to the safety of others. If you are someone who chose not to get vaccinated or hate the idea of having to do any of the Covid protocol you will not want to request a stay with us or please do not agree to host us either. Thank you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far we have had the pleasure of being hosted by three marvelous ladies. Each one of them will be remembered as a contributor to our wonderful CouchSurfing experience thus far!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

All positive! More to come as we move forward in our CouchSurfing experience.

Interests

We are both strong advocates for unifying our relationship with each other and with nature. We must protect and nurture that which gives us life and life for all the other species we share our wonderful planet with, hence that is why we sought a simpler life. We love food (especially local and organic) and I (Corinne) love to cook everything from scratch. We both love to learn new things especially when it comes to DIY stuff. We also love to read and spend time with engaging people who understand that listening is as important, if not more so, than talking.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I (Corinne) have a tendency to get my husband involved in things without asking first. He is such a great sport! In 2008, I decided that we should run a marathon together so I took the initiative to sign us up for one through the Team in Training organization. I picked a marathon to do but at the time I wasn't quite sure where it was. Gary received the confirmation e-mail that we were running a marathon in Alaska. He had no idea up until that point. What a good sport! Anyway, it was one of the most inspiring and amazing experiences we both have ever had. The coaches and mentors were incredible and the place was perfect for us. The marathon was out on the trails where we love to be. I couldn't have unknowingly picked a better one for us. Also, in 2010 we backpacked one of the most breathtaking places in the Canadian Rockies, Jasper's Sky Line Trail. It rained a lot but every moment we were awestruck.

Teach, Learn, Share

Our strengths lie in the art of simple living although we always strive to learn more and do more and we have a ton of ideas on greening ones lifestyle.
