Music, Movies, and Books
Some of my favorite books are The Sharks, Perfume, Lord of the Rings and many DIY-books.
In movies I love old Monty Python, everything Tarantino, Snatch, Paranorman, Gremlins II, October Sky, Boondock Saints, wacky cartoons like Animaniacs and Invader Zim, and many, many more.
In music I'm raised on metal and still love the sounds of it, but I listen to most genres.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When scaling Trolltunga, around 1200 m above sea-level with two French guys and a Moroccan during a road-trip in April.
We went up in sneakers and jeans, sunny as it was, and the first part was hell, basically a goat-path up the steep mountain 450 meters straight up with backpacks and firewood, then for a casual stroll along the ridge of the mountain to Trolltunga, but closing to our destination the sky darkened and some snow came in along with a cutting wind, ice-cold and straight through our clothes.
We spent a while enjoying the view as much as we could in the grey weather, had some food and a bit to drink. I noticed a rock right to the side of Trolltunga and decided to have some fun at my companions expense. I sit on a plastic bag and pretend to slide down the hill towards the dead-drop while stretching back to them, nailing it perfectly at the center at the rock that they hadn't even noticed. Two of my companions were amused, but the last one was less than entertained. Especially when I went for a second slide.
We then pitched our tent right by Trolltunga itself. There we were, freezing our bollocks off, a Norwegian, two French and a Moroccan, ass-to-dick to stay warm, hiding from the cold in our sleeping-bags.
The next morning we wake up to find all our shoes frozen and we had to thaw the laces and rims to get them back on, we open the tent, facing the cliff-side, walk out and turn around.
ENDLESS mountains, covered in snow, a giant lake stretching in the valley between and nothing but blue skies and sunshine. We took our sweet time making breakfast and cleaning our camp, enjoying the view and each other's company. The walk down was a lot easier, not only because of the weather, but also that we knew we were going DOWN 450 meters at the end, not up.
The view was amazing, the crew was amazing and the trip in general was amazing.
Teach, Learn, Share
You never know where the good ones are hiding, or if they're in a suit or a poncho, the only way to find out is by talking to random strangers every now and then...
What I Can Share with Hosts
Expect the unexpected, questions like food-allergies are good to get out of the way right away because the reactions can be severe, other than that; just keep an open mind and accept that you won't always agree 100% with everyone around you, but that doesn't mean one can't get along.
