About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I've decided to embark on a trip in the south-western europe. I want to visit southern France and then make my way to Spain and travel around the country for a few months.

ABOUT ME

I'm an easygoing down to earth kind of a person. It's pretty easy for me to get along with other people, I'm pretty good at adapting. I'm looking forward to meeting new people from different parts of the world. I've always loved traveling, it's something I got used too ever since I was very young. I love music. I play guitar, but if there's a jam to tag along too I'm willing to play anything. I also love having interesting conversations about hot topics with people. I don't like staying still in one place for too long, all my life in the same city has been a bit nerveracking, can't wait to leave!

PHILOSOPHY

As clichè as it may sound, I believe that life is a journey, not just in a physical sense but also in a mystical-spiritual one. One can travel all he wants without ever moving, it's your state of mind that counts. However I think that for some people their natural condition is to constantly move, many ancient tribes said that man was born to travel. Feeling oppressed by the city I live in, I consider myself to be among these people, which is why I'm embarking on this journey. I believe that a journey can be pleasant wherever you go and however you get there, as long as one is in peace with himself.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've never been hosted through couchsurfing, but I've taken part in many intercultural projects, which were vaguely similar to this. Last year I spent a week in a hostel with five italians, five poles, five turks, five bulgarians and five latvians. It was an awesome experience, it gave me an input to travel since it showed what great people you can meet in intercultural situations

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

In the past my mother and I hosted two great polish university students. They were in Verona only for a short while, but we got to know them quite well. Great people, really. Unfortunately we we're not able to host anyone else because of numerous house problems we had.

Interests

My main hobby is playing guitar, I've been playing since I was 9 years old. On this trip I plan to bring my guitar with me and busk on the streets of the cities I pass by. I also love surfing, I learned a few summers ago while in California. I'm very interested in literature, philosophy and languages also. I consider myself to be a fish, because I'll bite to many things: many things seem to spark an interest in me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy reading Herman Hesse, Bruce Chatwin, Luigi Pirandello and many others. I also like reading the works of philosopers such as Nietzsche and Wittgenstein. I listen to many kinds of music, anything from hip-hop to delta blues, from klezmer to flamenco, latino to hard rock ecc... I'm not an expert in cinematography since I never really watched that many movies. I would have to say that my favorite director is Tarantino.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Standing in front of Rainbow falls, CA. A few dreams I've had ( I tend to remember all of my dreams). Saving my dear friend from a near death experience. Coming face to face with a california brown bear. Seeing "Die Umarmung" by Egon Schiele at the Belvedere castle in Vienna.

Teach, Learn, Share

I see the world as a huge melting pot that, via globalization, as mixed together a great amount of cultures. Unfortunately, due to social-economical iniquities, these cultures don't always bind together so well and result is that they live in the same city but don't even come in contact with each other. I think this phenomenon could be defined as being multicultural. But, what I think a melting pot should do is to give birth to an intercultural phenomenon, in which cultures intersect and live together peacefully. I think traveling is the best thing to do to witness interculturality. I hope to verify that couchsurfing is one of the most powerful means to do all this.
