About Me

Like most Couch Surfers, I have also traveled around the world and fell in love with meeting new people, cultures, and overall different lifestyles. I love expanding my awareness and gaining wisdom through experience. I'm an adventurer and explorer at heart with a passion for the thrills.

Background Fast-forwarding to present: I'm the outcome of immigrants. My parents were both highly intelligent yet extremely poor immigrants from Taiwan, and like most immigrants, took a giant leap forward with only $40 in their pockets to begin a new life in the US. I was eventually born in the ghetto of Los Angeles with gunshots and ghetto horns blasting every night until they hustled and saved to move into white suburbia, San Diego, many years later. As a first generation Asian-American I've experienced many different and contradicting cultures, mindset, and lifestyles. Eventually, I made the better decision to go to college and decided to pursue a degree in Recreation Administration with a focus on the quality of life. And here I am now (Rovaniemi, Finland) pursuing my master's degree in tourism, culture, & international management while always reaching to fellow kinsmen to find out the secret to happiness and an overall "successful" way of life.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Apologies ahead of time, it's hard to list just ONE.

(2017) RV trip all over California with a special someone. I don't want to travel anyway else anymore.

(2016) Guiding tourists about Lapland and the magical Northern Lights. I also did a minor acting gig for the first time in Rovaniemi, Finland.

(2015) Being proposed by two of my young foreign exchange students when I did a contract summer job as a "teacher guide".

Literal foggy parkouring or running away from Christiania, Copenhagen- Denmark (2012) through paranoia of smoking unknown substances with teenage skater kids in Christiania during the drug- hippie run city crackdowns... during winter time with an amazing city filled with historical buildings that pop up and disappear out of nowhere through the icy fogs... (story to be continued if we meet)...
P.S. - I promise I'm not a druggy or a bad person.

Old but keeping for keeping sakes... keepsake :P >> Summer of 2010, i did an internship in Korea for about 9 weeks through Camp Adventure. It was one of the most amazing and rewarding choice i have made in my life. I have also interned in Bamberg, Germany to toddlers - kindergarten children. I've studied and traveled abroad to China, Vietnam, and Taiwan for about 6 months. I've seen and done quite a few things over there which includes walking on the Great Wall in China (One of the Great Wonders of the World), visited Waterworld (have you seen the movie with Kevin Costner?) in Vietnam.

I can talk for DAYS about amazing things I've seen and done. Just ask me!

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach many different games including drinking games collected throughout the travels. Teach basic martial arts although I haven't practiced in a long time. I need to brush up. Water Polo, Swim, Basic rock climbing or bouldering, Ultimate Frisbee... etc. I'm not exactly sure what you're looking for!

Learn: Anything & Everything

Share: What would you like to know?

Old but still keeping as a keepsake >>As a 1st Generation Asian American & globetrotter, i can teach you a bit about cultures. Brought up by Taiwanese parents, but born and raised as an American. I can teach you how to be random and how to be a cautious risk-taker ;). Also, I can teach and show you a variety of games I've collected across cultures, an awesome chinese poker game called Big 2, how to boogie-board, basic water safety swim techniques, a little bit of martial arts, and the sandwich technique to address a problem but not being too forward and confrontational. + much more. Quelf.
