About Me

ABOUT ME
An eternal student of life :)
Anton Chekhov once said: “How many languages do you know – that many times you are human.” From my experience, that is true. Different cultures live in slightly different worlds and are human in slightly different ways. I wish to experience as many of these as possible on my life journey. Maybe I'll find one I like.
I stand at the end of a long trip right now, having finished a number of big life projects. I'm not sure where to go next, and it felt like a good time to take a break and reflect. There must be more to life than the 9-to-5, right? So I'm on a 2 year trip to see the Eurasian continent. Please join my journey :)
PHILOSOPHY
Healthy body - healthy mind.
Mind over matter!
What goes around comes around.
Take the good with the bad.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I love CS - it's such a wonderful community of kind, sharing and open people. I am happy to be one of them and to share my stories and experiences with this big family.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
It started with me couchsurfing in Geneva after a disappointing hitch-hike around northern Italy. The experience was so up-lifting and heart-warming that I was hooked on CS once and for all.
Since then, I've surfed more than hosted, but once I have stable accommodation I hope I'll be able to host more!
Interests
Travelling, yoga, hiking, reading, riding, skiing, chess, salsa/bachata, Argentine tango, board games, FOOD, theater, and my research.
Truth is: everything interests me. It's hard to find a topic which I know nothing about. but you are welcome to try! I always want to learn more.
Music, Movies, and Books
It varies. Mostly sci-fi related things and classics. I'm currently trying to make my way through Dostoevsky. Other favourite authors include Iain M Banks, Terry Pratchett, Dan Simmons, Neil Gaiman, Anne Rice, Nikolai Gogol, Charles Dickens, Jack London, Thomas Mayne Reid, Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, Frank Herbert, Mikhail Bulgakov, Joseph Heller, Douglas Adams, Rafael Sabatini, Jules Verne, George Orwell, H. P. Lovecraft and others. A bit of a mix, eh?
Movies... I like sci-fi and old American rom-coms (from the 1980s and 90s). Current favourite is the Groundhog's Day. I do enjoy clever films, political films, historical films, films about life and purely visual films, but I don't like overly, pointlessly sad films because there is enough sadness in life without them. If I choose to take time away from my ever-present research and watch a movie, it's gotta be something inspiring.
Music... it varies with the mood. Currently stuck on chill electro jazz like this: https://youtu.be/FBn7QPQaVPo
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I hitch-hiked from England to Morocco, slept among orange trees in Spain, taught English in the Himalayas, went skiing and horse riding in Kazakhstan, cycled Polish forests on a flimsy city bike, met reindeer beyond the Arctic Circle, hiked into the Norwegian mountains in ballerina shoes to see a fjord, interviewed Russian authorities, traveled the world on a scanty student stipend. Many amazing, hilarious and terrifying things, but too many to put here, so just ask me.
Teach, Learn, Share
Could teach a bit of everything - from how to cook something, to English language, to a personalised workout or some salsa.
Will learn and share everything else.
What I Can Share with Hosts
