About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Mission? That would imply a sense of direction.

ABOUT ME

A bit about myself: My name is Andy --I am a 28 year old Californian wayfarer with a hefty appetite for adventure.

I've been told my personality is "easy-going" or "laid-back" Hey, I like to laugh and smile, what's life without a little fun? Despite all this talking about myself, I try to aim for humble.

Creating meaningful and lasting relationships with those around me is an important part of who I am. I'm really interested in making the best out of every situation, living life to the fullest and exploring this big beautiful planet. I am student of philosophy who enjoys reading and discussing all aspects of life on this rock and then some. I live to travel and experience life, culture, and perspective through all facets possible.

PHILOSOPHY

Life is a journey, NOT a guided tour.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Unfortunately I've not had the chance to host very much but that's about to change!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Some of my best CSing experiences have been when I've stayed with people or families who live off the beaten, tourist path. Some of my favorite hosts lived in places with zero tourist attractions and we just enjoyed getting to know each other. I always leave these places with new friends and think: This is what CS is all about!

Interests

Travel (duh), motorcycles! surfing (on water), music, DIY, bicycles, snowboarding, skateboarding, philosophy, grass, beer, art, geeking out on ultralight camping gear, wine, trains

Music, Movies, and Books

I maintain a vast appreciation for anything musical, lets just say my tastes are eclectic but find I do best playing the stereo.

A few favorite bands: Bob Dylan, CAKE, Cat Power, Bowie, Del, The Distillers, Ed Sharpe, Flaming Lips, Frank Black, Grateful Dead, Iron & Wine, Jack Johnson, Jimi Hendrix, John Prine, The Kinks, Lou Reed, Love, The Magnetic Fields, Manu Chao, MGMT, Misfits, Modest Mouse, Moldy Peaches, Mumford and Sons, Neil Young, Nevershoutnever, Old Crow Medicine Show, Pinback, Pink Floyd, Chili Peppers, RjD2, The Stones, She & Him, Slightly Stoopid, The Sounds, The Strokes, Tallest Man on Earth, Tom Waits, Transplants, Van Morrison, The Velvet Underground

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A solo trip on motorcycle to the arctic circle/Alaska.

Hitchhiked cross the good ol' U.S. of A. in both length and width and then some.

Lived in a 15th century chateau in France.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn more survival/primitive skills. I'm into DIY and like self sufficiency. I can teach you how to skate and surf, work on bikes, and how to not open a beer with your teeth, though I'm sure many of us have that last one covered!
