About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I cannot rest from travel: I will drink Life to the lees:
ABOUT ME
My name is Alison and I am a student of Modern Languages in Sheffield. I love languages and am studying German and Russian at the moment, though have also learnt French in the past and picked up a little Swedish while my parents were living there.
I have couch surfed a couple of times in Russia with some great people. I was a bit nervous to start with, because I didn’t know what to expect, but I needn’t have because it was one of the best experiences ever!
I love talking to people (maybe that’s why I love learning languages?!) though I can be shy at first. I also really enjoy finding out about other cultures and how other people live and of course, am a big fan of traveling. I have been very lucky that I have been able to travel a lot, as both my parents have lived abroad an awful lot! I am a big fan of all things German, though my favourite city that I’ve ever visited is probably St. Petersburg, it’s magical in winter!
PHILOSOPHY
" Come, my friends,
’Tis not too late to seek a newer world.
... and tho’
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are;
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield. "

Interests
I love to travel and know that I have only seen a tiny portion of everything that there is out there. I am passionate about languages and I suppose that is part of the reason I love to travel so much!
I devour books at an alarming rate and believe that there is always music to suit the mood.
I enjoy knitting and generally being creative by making greetings cards, keeping scrap books and writing. I love poetry.
