About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To ski Hokkaido! And find friends with whom to do it. I got out of touch with CS a few years ago when I settled down after a decade of global nomadism (and when the whole corporation B thing burnt down the foundational CS community.)

ABOUT ME

I am he as you are he as you are me and we are all together.
(The trees, too.)

This all started more than a decade ago, when I self-designed my undergraduate degree, inclusive of traveling, studying and working on 5 different continents. It shaped me into the traveler I am today, and I don't think I'll ever stop.

Still a global nomad at heart and certainly an expat tried-and-true, 13 years in!

PHILOSOPHY

We're all journeying in this life. My journey may connect with yours if it is meant to do so. That interaction will create sparks, some as beautiful as fireworks and some as destructive as explosions. Either way, we will learn from these sparks and use them to ignite our fire of life.

You can never step in the same river twice; life is permanent flux.

...The world in which we live in does not exist in some absolute sense but is just one model of reality, the consequence of one particular set of adapted choices that our lineage made, albeit successfully, many generations ago.
-Wade Davis, Endangered Cultures, TED.com

Margaret Mead, the great anthropologist, said before she died that her greatest fear was that as we drifted toward this blandly amorphous generic worldview not only would we see the entire range of human imagination reduced to a more narrow modality of thought, but we would awake from the dream one day having forgotten that there were even other possibilities.
-Wade Davis, Endangered Cultures, TED.com

The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which they were created.
-Albert Einstein

We don't live in a democracy any longer; we live in a mediaucracy, and our media is creating and perpetuating a cultural trance to which we've all subscribed. The task today for the person who wants to live awake - to be fully awake - is to break free of that cultural trance that is perpetuated by consumerism, by mechanization, by technology. We have forgotten how to write poems with pens; we have forgotten how to live an epic life. We think that getting a faster computer is going to produce a better piece of work. Technology is trying to provide those solutions that spirit provided very directly to those who came before us.
-Alberto Villoldo

Every little bit of lifted consciousness helps propel us forward.. This is not a time for resisting that which has gone wrong, but rather for lighting the way to that which will return us to harmony. There may be much chaos in the interim. Don't fall into the trap of thinking that love and light are always easy-breezy, they are anything but that; love and light come and shine their powerful rays into places we'd rather not look most of the time. They are unsettling powers that demand deep change. Expect relationships to be rattled, defenses to be challenged; expect earthquakes and hurricanes, for those are the catalysts of change. In this knowledge you'll find the rapids of change will not be scary, just part of a day in the life of a transitioning world- and thank goodness that we are a changing world. Here's to all you fearless flames: may the infinite piece of the universe be yours today and always.
-Natalia Rose

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.
-Robert A. Heinlein

(I pride myself in my inconsistency, as)
Consistency is the last refuge of the unimaginative.
-Oscar Wilde
