About Me

I am very curious and quiet. I generally enjoy discussing politics, history, or philosophy. I am a writer, reader, and explorer. Here's some stuff I wrote: http://www.justwellwritten.com/

My wife and I have been married since June 2016. We have 0 kids and plan to keep it that way because we're both way too selfish and love traveling and sleeping. We do have 2 dogs, a cat, and 2 parakeets. The parakeets were unexpected. My wife found an abandoned female parakeet just sitting on the grass in the rain and she brought her inside. We gave her a home and got her a male friend to help her adjust. Now, we are parakeet parents.

I recently graduated and got my MA in Middle Eastern Studies. My specialty is Israel and Palestine, military history, peace movement, etc. I am an Army veteran turned conscientious objector. I left the Army because U.S. foreign policy is a nightmare and I wanted no more part of it after I grew up and realized what was going on. I was in the Army for 9 years and I am completely different person now than I was in the military.

Okay. That's enough for now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because traveling to new places is about the sights, the people, and the experiences. It is not about being funneled into a tourist trap and sleeping in a cookie-cutter box owned by millionaires who don't care if you have a unique experience or not.

Because I appreciate people and community, not greed and marketing.
