One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
sitting on olympic beach in Washington when I was 14, after a week of hiking in the pouring rain, and watching the sun set over the old cliffs that had long broken off from the shore, until my eyes burned.
Living in Soweto for two months in 2007 with an aged gogo, who taught me how to sing hymns in Zulu during the evenings, when I spent my days walking around dusty streets, running after the kids I was supposed to be directing in a play. Long minibus rides, packed in four to a row, always grabbing the window seat and resting my elbow on the sill.
Climbing on the roof of my (lady)friend's flat in downtown london in 2005 right of bond street, risking life and limb to see the Christmas lights and strobe lights in the sky. The feeling of that cold air and of the city stretched underneath me. feeling infinite in finite moments.
