About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To visit every country - done around 135, so got a few more left!

ABOUT ME

I'm back in the UK after spending two years living in China where I was working as a tour leader (showing people around) - whilst I'm no longer doing that, I still enjoy meeting new people and making friends from around the world.

I've recently started a new job working with various international airlines...I'm away with work quite a bit, so I may be around, I may not.

***NOTE***

I live in St.Albans, and NOT in London. London and most of the London airports are easiliy accessible, but St.Albans is not really suitable as a base for exploring London. A cheap London hostel will be more economical than the daily train fare. The train only takes 20 minutes from King's Cross St.Pancras to St.Albans, so is an easy place to "escape" to from London for a night or two.

PHILOSOPHY

Don't have any regrets

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Surfing:
I generally perfer to couch surf rather than stay in hotels as it's a brilliant way to get to meet locals and get a real feel for a place. Also, as I generally travel solo, it's nice to meet up with a new friend and share a meal and a few drinks.

Hosting: I've got a spare room to host, but plan to do a bit of travelling too. If you come to St.Albans, I'm more than happy to show you around one of Britain's oldest towns.

If you come to stay, it's nice for you to either bring a (small) present from your home town/country, or pay for a drink if we go to the pub. It's a minimum that I expect, and something I always do when I surf myself. While a major aspect of CS is to save money on accommodation, generosity to your host when you've saved on accomoodation costs is also important.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed with lots of people around the world (all known beforehand), sometimes on sofas, once on a wide windowsill (for a week!), sometimes in nice rooms with ensuites. I've slept under tables twice (once in my own room) - I'll sleep anywhere, but prefer a comfy double bed.I've hosted six couchsurfers at my house, 1 Dutch, 2 British, 1 Austrian, 1 Italian and 1 American.

I surfed 10 times, in Sweden, San Diego, Moldova, Burundi, Isle of Man, Cyprus, Zimbabwe, Nice, Kuwait & the Netherlands

Interests

I love travelling which I get to do fairly frequently (luckily). Getting back into listening to music now that I have access to some good stuff. Enjoy going to the pub and cinema with friends.

I also love flying (maybe a little too much)....
