About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to discover how each of us has become what we are--to hear about as many life threads as I can.
ABOUT ME
This section is outdated a few years, but I like what it says.
I just graduated with a degree in biology, but my head is somewhere else right now so I am traveling before I make any further life decisions. I have become very interested in people--how each of us has come to live the life we do right now. My current traveling goals are mainly to meet people very different from myself, or not, and talk, learn, etc. Other travelers generally share an interest in people, so I am very excited about getting to know other couch surfers.
I recently went to Australia and New Zealand on a Studio Art study abroad trip, and since then I carry a sketchbook with me everywhere I go. I have done a fair bit of drawing/painting and printmaking--so don't be surprised if I ask you to sit for a quick portrait!
As far as traveling goes, I tend to prefer quieter, nature-y places to big cities where people tend to be less approachable, although cities definitely have something to offer. I just spent a month hiking on the southwest coast of England (270 miles!). It was amazing to talk to people in the little towns we passed and meet other hikers. I am always looking for suggestions on beautiful, friendly places to travel to, so let me know if you can think of any!
PHILOSOPHY
Trying to live very linearly--allowing thoughts and experiences to lead the way rather than falling into something planned out for comfort's sake.
Believe in taking deep breaths.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I surfed for two months in Europe and have met with a few people for coffee in my hometown and while traveling. Upon moving to a new city a few years ago, I quickly connected with the couchsurfing community, and many of them have become some of my best friends.
I recently moved to my first dwelling with hosting potential! I'm looking forward to hosting couchsurfers in the near future.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I surfed for two months on a solo trip through Europe, and had an AMAZING experience--there is really no other way to travel. I did not meet anyone who I wasn't interested to talk to, and I came back from my trip a different person having had that experience. I have been somewhat of a walking advertisement for the site since the trip.
