About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I dedicate myself to "forming the structure of the new society within the shell of the old", through the gradual emergence everywhere of autonomous non-hierarchical communities in oppostion to current systems of oppression.
ABOUT ME
My name is Christopher Morgan Wohlers.
I am a physics and environmental studies student at Pitzer College, one of the Claremont Colleges. I intend to conduct research in third generation photovoltaics in order to facilitate the decentralization of the energy system.
I am an environmental vegan. This doesn't make me as difficult to deal with as you might think. On the side, I am a freegan who eats quite a quantity of animal products out of dumpsters.
Sometimes I feel that I suffer from a critical lack of agency at my educational institution. Maybe I should drop out of school and hit the streets, organizing worker collectives for the IWW.
Current projects:
- Organizing workers at Pomona College
- Shutting down the Pomona City police checkpoints through direct action
- Restructuring Pitzer College student governance
- Saving the Bernard Field Station
- Power flirting
PHILOSOPHY
Dangerous.
I am an anarchist, an anarcho-communist. I am against the state, corporations and all earthly forms of authority, hierarchy and coercion. I am for relocalization, collectivization, consensus, revolutionary autonomous communities and long walks on the beach.
I attempt to guide myself with philosophy of Christian Anarchism (as in Leo Tolstoy, Dorothy Day, Ammon Hennacy, Henry David Thoreau, the Berrigan brothers, and all the cool kids), but I mostly fail at it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Stayed with a backwoods libertarian family on my way to Seattle. Received a jar of the best honey I've ever had.
Led a school sponsored orientation trip for Pitzer College first years and had the whole group sleep over at a Couch Surfer's trampoline-resplendent house in Santa Barbara.
Had a professional tennis player try to fit in my dorm room for a week. I don't think I paid enough attention to him. All I could talk about was politics.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies. What?
Music. I try to be as hipster as possible. Did you catch the last Mika Miko show at the Smell?
Books. I like words too. Where would I be without literacy? Probably in the White House if that's where my father was.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Pepper sprayed on the hood of Karl Rove's car?
Organizing the first Claremont naked bike ride?
Living at the Los Angeles Eco-Village?
Strip-dreidel!
Teach, Learn, Share
Most of my skills are entirely conceptual. I can talk about physics! In really big words! I know a little bit about biointensive farming/gardening and like to think that I've got some dumpster diving skillz. Basic bike mechanics. I am prepared for any direct action or radical organizing that needs getting done.
I need to find people who can teach me how to become better at making bikes work.
