About Me

I joined CS when I was 20, studying abroad in New Zealand. It was a fantastic introduction to the network. Meeting the travelers we hosted sparked my interest in seeing more of the world myself!

In the last 10 years, I graduated, moved back to Seattle, met my now husband, Will, and moved to San Francisco. Throughout those years, I always had roommates that were unwilling to accept couchsurfers, but Will and I are currently in the process of moving back to Seattle and we can't wait to host there!

But first...TRAVEL!!

We've taken this year off (2018) and spent February-May in Central & South America. Now we're spending June-August in Europe, and we'll make our way to Asia for the fall, September-December.

I've worked in and am passionate about climate activism, but for this year off I'd describe myself as a crafter and adventurer, constantly learning and working to discover my next move. Will is a mechanical engineer, a home-brewer and beer fanatic, a mountaineer, back country skiier, cyclist, and all around a very fun and handy person to have around.

We both love exploring, in cities and in nature, and we love to dance! We often go to the mountains in the fall and winter, and to festivals in the spring and summer. We've been to Burning Man several times, and we're thinking of going to Nowhere this year (let us know if you're going)!

Here are two of my favorite quotes:

"Cynicism is often seen as a rebellious attitude in Western popular culture, but in reality, our cynicism advances the desires of the powerful: cynicism is obedience. Optimism, by contrast, when it's neither foolish nor silent, can be revolutionary. When no one believes in a better future, despair is a logical choice - and people in despair almost never change anything. When no one believes in the possibility of action, apathy becomes an insurmountable obstacle to reform. But when people have some intelligent reasons to believe that a better future can be built, that better solutions are available, and that action is possible, their power to act out of their highest principles is unleashed. Shared belief in a better future is the strongest glue there is." -Alex Steffen
(climate change activist / urbanist / futurist and my former boss!)

"We do not stop playing because we grow old; we grow old because we stop playing."
(so cheesy, but so true.)
