Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Exploring the world, having adventures, experiencing new cultures
ABOUT ME
I work as an engineer on rotation in a lot of Western African countries. I like to explore the natural world, including climbing, skiing, hiking, camping, etc.
Life is amazing.
I love smiling for no reason, and laughing even when it's sometimes inappropriate.
I love meeting new people and learning about their stories.
Languages, different cultures, beer, and just about everything else fascinate me. I want to experience as much of everything as I can.
PHILOSOPHY
Love life.
Be the best person I can.
Appreciate beauty in everything.
Realize that most things don't really matter in the long run.
Television is a waste of time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'd be more than happy to host somebody at my house when I'm there. I've only hosted a couple of people so far, and have only surfed a couple of times. All of my experiences have been amazing.
I try to attend local CS meetups once in a while, but often my schedule makes this difficult.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've had amazing experiences staying with people in western Europe through CS, and have enjoyed hosting the couple of people that have stayed with me.
Otherwise I've stayed with people while traveling quite a lot through arrangements outside of CS.

Music, Movies, and Books
Pretty much anything and everything as far as music. Jazz, classical, electronica, house, indie, underground hiphop, classic rock, bluegrass, funk.
As far as books, primarily classics and philosophical pieces. My favorite authors include Sartre, Hemingway, Dostoevsky, Achebe, Rushdie, Kerouac, Lao Tzu, etc.
I've started reading the Bhagavad Gita recently and am thoroughly enjoying that.
I love film. Mostly classic movies, film noir, 50's sci-fi, old musicals, foreign films, etc. My favorite film ever is Lawrence of Arabia. Also, Amelie, North by Northwest, A Life Aquatic, The Darjeeling Limited, My Fair Lady, Casablanca, Moon, Garden State.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I have:
worked in one of the most corrupt countries in Africa
driven a shitty Citroen Saxo from England to Mongolia
enjoyed a coffee with a friend along the beach of Marseilles
gone clubbing with some crazy Romanians
camped out in Western Siberia
drank horse milk in Kazakhstan
ridden motorbikes through the Vietnamese countryside
meandered aimlessly through cities
woken up to four feet of snow outside my window
continually been awestruck by the beauty of my surroundings and the world
