ABOUT ME

I'm a busy bee, living in the nice city of Brussels where I try to enjoy life to the fullest.
After hearing a lot about this site I thought it would be a good way to keep young and interested, so here I am, trying to open doors, including mine. I'm of Dutch origin and since over 40 years a Belgian. What I value most in people is honesty and respect, and an open ear and mind.
I think my friends would say about me that I'm always busy doing something, never bored, with lots of hobbies and activities, but this said over the years I have also learned to enjoy the calm and peace of the moment. Brussels is big and small at the same time, and very international, before you realise you speak five different languages (with a bit of effort). I live in an old but cosy apartment, not far from the European Union area, near metro and buses. When the weather is nice I take my bike to exercise my old bones for my yearly backpack travel to some known or unknown far away country. The best company in my house is my cat, so cat-haters, this is not for you :)

PHILOSOPHY

I am trying to be 'a better person', sometimes it works, sometimes not ... it's a lifetime mission I suppose.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm slowly getting some experience with couch surfing, and so far I'm quite happy to have started it. If I'm here, it's because I think it is important in life to be in touch with as many different (nice) people as possible. Whatever age we are, we can always learn from one another.

Interests

I do all sorts of things like reading, framing, photo- and language classes, sewing, skiing, cat-loving .... I enjoy going to concerts of all kinds (jazz, world music, classical ...), to fleemarkets or to musea/cinema, and last but not least I caught the travel microbe and am over the moon when I can travel and discover the world (mostly as a solo traveller, which for me is a great experience)... and while being on this site now, I hope from time to time to go to less far away countries as well and meet new people.

Music, Movies, and Books

When some emotion comes up while reading, watching or listening ... that's when it becomes interesting ... but that's very personal of course.

For instance a movie like The Pianist, or books by Rohinton Mistry or Khaled Hosseini and wonders like Chopin or why not Brad Mehldau .... too many to name.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went several times to India, believe me, it does not leave you untouched !

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you languages, or how to sew the hem of your trousers, or how to comb my cat (she loves that), or how to make a wonderful frame for your photo (but that's when we have a lot of time) ... and in return maybe you can teach me some Spanish or some specific cooking (as I'm not so good at that, except for desserts !).
