About Me

Hi everyone, a little about me: I live in a quiet town outside of Leiden. Nice strip of nature to wander around in with a mini lake, marina, and a tiny beach a ten minute walk from our place. The center of Leiden is about a 20 minute bike or busride away. Leiden is old and quaint, like a miniature version of Amsterdam and situated between the Hague and Amsterdam. We're not too far away from the coast ( bigger beach!), about 30 mins from Leiden Central. Leiden is a really nice town I would gladly be willing to show you around in, if I'm not working. Started my own little chair massage business last year, work part-time in cinema. Have a fifteen year-old son living with me most days of the week, we have two cats. Our appartment is nice enough, sometimes just a little bit messy. We don't care enough to actively make cleaning changes XD . Last minute requests can be made, but I prefer to know well in advance whether or not I will have guests staying over.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My neighbor tipped me off and through him I met some couchsurfers and got interested in hosting myself. I love good conversations, and good company. Bit shy but that usually wears off within minutes after which I can be very chatty. I'm a person that tends to wear her heart on her sleeve. Love meeting new people and learning about other ways of life, consider myself open-minded. I love good conversations, and good company. Frankly, life here can get a little too calm to my taste and I like to shake things up a bit occassionally. That's why I'm on here. I like doing stuff in town, seeing movies, visiting museums, music, grabbing a coffee or a bagel at my old place of work. Not my thing: copious amounts of alcohol and excessive drinking in bars. My chinese liver can't handle booze and I'm not really into that. Plus, I'm not 20 anymore.. Just so you know..

Interests

Interests: listening to or making music , movies (obvs because I work at a cinema, although I really suck at remembering plotlines), reading ( although not as much as I used to), creative writing, Game of Thrones bingewatching, travel as much as my schedule and budget allow me to. Which isn't very often but we make the most of it! Met some wonderful people during some really fun workshops I attended these last few years, have this little global tribe vibe going on now. I am addicted to Facebook ( sure I'm not the only one??)
I used to do sports, but switched to QiGong after experiencing some health issues. Loving QiGong.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: all kinds of really, as long as it moves me. Classical, Funk, Rock, Grunge, dance nowadays as well. But, admittedly, I AM a bit of a Foo Fighters fetishist.. Reading Mark Haddon right now, love every single book of his that I have read so far. American Gods is next on the list. Movies: seen so many...love so many...ask me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just one thing? Ok, our most recent adventure then: We hiked in Northern Ireland. Walked on very high and wobbly rope bridge, almost got blown off cliffs a couple of times, walked through what we thought was cheerful Irish grassland which then turned out to be a living swamp that we got sort of sucked into. Then we got lost and we had a little Indiana Jones adventure when the forest floor started shifting under our feet and we slid off a very, Very steep hill, that we then had to climb again. But we ended the holiday sitting on a deserted ancient site on an island with a ruin of a little house and the vast ocean in front of us and dozens of seals a stone's throw away. We sat there in silence, staring at the seals and they were staring back at us and swimming up to us after a while. And it was beautiful.

Teach, Learn, Share

Can't make too much noise in our house, but the teenager has some serious music skills, especially on piano, but also on bass and guitar.
We can teach you some difficult Dutch words. Cook and share a meal. Bonus: If your backpack has been killing you I have a massage chair.
