Chi sono

A sustainability student from India studying in Sweden with a deep passion for photography, enjoy good conversations about life, things that matter, psychology, economics, first vs third world, a bit of history, etc.

I'm a people's person and usually can get along with everyone. Very understanding and adjustable. I haven't been getting much time to travel recently due to loads of study and work in Sweden but I'm getting a chance to go to switzerland for a conference and would like to stay a day extra to travel and explore.

I believe in doing things as that is only what changes things and we do have a lot to change. That is why I'm studying environment and sustainability. Learning from different people has always been my goal and that is what is great about travelling that one gets to meet a lot of new people and quite often form connections. Who knows how we cross paths again.

Would love to write more about me but I'm more of a listener. Write to me anything that you'd like to know. Looking forward to meeting you.

Perché sono iscritto su Couchsurfing

I'm an introvert turned extrovert. I've recently realized the joy in learning from others and this is my inspiration for travelling. To see places, photograph them and to meet new people, learn about things which might or might not be new to me. But the spirit and adventure is one thing that always remains high in meeting new people (I expect).

I'm a bit anxious, I wouldn't lie given that it's my first time traveling solo from my country and first time couchsurging. Through couchsurfing. But never knowing how the experience would turn out excites me. What new inspirations I will get, what new perspectives I will learn motivates me to do this thing.

I get a chance to just do that and see how my journey goes. Not only I will learn about other people but about myself too. Whatever be the case there's a learning experience here which is not be missed, I believe :)

Interessi

i think I touch upon them here and there so I shouldn't repeat but I'd like to share one interest which has recently developed. It's this drive to know more about my country and it's history. So I have started to read on that as well.

Also for my master's i'll be working on how to motivate people to make good healthy and environment friendly choices so where sustainability and psychology meet.

Musica, film e libri

Depending on the mood I like many kinds of music. Mornings usually start with inspirational, uplifting - EDM or electro pop - on spotify. Then evenings depending on if I'm with my girlfriend or just with some friends, i listen to jazz or just calm music/lounge music.
When I'm not listening to playlists on spotify or calm radio i listen to some favourites: Ludovico Einaudi, Coldplay, Ben Howard, etc.

Movies - Just some on the top of my mind and again not restricted to just one kind. - la Grande Bazella, The youth, Batman Triology, Interstellar.... basically the kinds with a nice story, plot, work of great writer/director which is somewhat related to non-fiction.

Books - I've recently developed a habit of reading but as of now if there's anything that has really moved me is the work of Khaled Hosseini - I've read 2/3 books -
The Kite Runner (2003)
A Thousand Splendid Suns (2007)

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Haven't really thought which one is the most amazing one but have many experiences that I will cherish for life.

Motorbiked in the Himalayas for 7 days.

Bicycled from the west of skane, Sweden to the east to see the cider museum and camp in the forest. (check my photos :)

Learned how to drive a car by myself (i'll explain when we'll meet :p)

Lost 25 kgs in 5 months.

SHARE
I can share my stories from India, something about my culture, those traditions, why we use spices, my perspective on life, Indian cooking, new music and inspirations. Just check out this track which I have recently discovered, it mixes indian beats with western instruments and the result sometimes is so calming - https://youtu.be/KvOxkbUsjjo

TEACH
I know a lot about photography so I'm very sure I can teach you a thing or two. Check out my pictures if you would like to know me more as they do indeed reflect what's in my mind - https://www.instagram.com/_skyiris_/

LEARN
I really want to learn how to play drums, I couldn't all this time because I didn't have space to put a drum set at my home in India. Another thing that I would like to learn over the summer is swimming. (Yeah it's true, I don't know how to swim, my german friends find it so surprising, maybe you do too :)

Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa

I think the best thing I could share with my hosts prior to knowing them is first, my view, my motivation and my perspective on life and through that whatever common things we find, I can share my knowledge of that :)

I've worked as a photographer and now I work as a journalist so if there's anything within those spheres that you'd like to know, I invite you to ask and learn from me :)
