About Me
ABOUT ME
I am an aspiring writer. Also, my plan for this next year is to write a screenplay and then try and self-finance and direct it (wish me luck - tough industry). Apart from that, I just want to make strong connections and explore the world around me as best I can.
My biggest interests lie in literature and cinema. I'm also interested in philosophy (I could talk philosophically all day!), political theory, and matters involving the West and the East. I'm open-minded and other people's interests fascinate me.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am travelling around Europe this summer. It's the only time I will get to travel freely with no commitments and time restraints, as I have just graduated from university. I want to meet curious, intelligent, philosophical people who can show me the beauty of their city.
Interests
Music, Movies & Books
I enjoy intelligent filmmakers. Richard Linklater, Stanley Kubrick, Christopher Nolan - people like that. Films that are unique and original but are still captivating to watch. Some of my favourite actors are Joaquin Phoenix, Javier Bardem and Oscar Isaac.
Some of my favourite recent films are: Her, Boyhood, Before Midnight, Upstream Colour, Nightcrawler.
I also like watching foreign films. I like the French films Les Salauds and La Vie d'Adele, the Italian film La Grande Bellezza and the German film Das Leben der Anderen.
Reading is my favourite thing to do. Any novel that has something interesting to say is worth checking out in my opinion. I read often. I've read many of the British and American classics. I have studied Indian and African literature (Rushdie, Adichie, Achebe etc). I am interested in much European literature too - my favourites are Kafka, Goethe and Laxness.
Writers that I plan to check out this year are Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Jack Kerouac, and the Russians - Nabokov, Dostoevsky and Tolstoy.
