About Me

CURRENT MISSION

New job (finally architecture!), new town (pretty great so far), done with school (6 years of it)! Time to start the next chapter of my life!

ABOUT ME

As of May 2014, I have been in Bloomington for almost two years now getting the great opportunity to finally work in an architecture firm. Originally from Peoria and spending 6 years in Champaign for school, this new location is great for it lets me see family and friends in both cities now!

I have a Masters in Architecture with a focus on structural engineering and my goal is to one day be a licensed architect and structural engineer.

If you would like to know anything else about me feel free to ask!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Now that I am back in the states, I haven't really had a chance to participate nearly as much as I would like to. Some of my best experiences when I was studying abroad from 08-09 were couch surfing related, so I really miss it...

And unfortunately, time wise, I was quite busy when in school. Usually I lived with several roommates, so I didn't want to try to impose on them with hosting anyone.

In my new place now I might be willing to host depending on their schedule and how it works with mine.

And I am hoping to try to go to a meeting every now and then, to at least be involved a little more.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have been to the one meeting in Paris as I said above, and as of April 15th, 2009, I have had the awesome time of actually couch surfing!

Stayed with some great guys and a girl in Belfast for 3 nights and some more great guys in Cork for 2 nights.

Even though I was only in Berlin for a few days, the people who hosted us made it so much fun.

I am just really disappointed that I discovered this site and community so late into my study abroad experience, wish I would have been doing this since September.

Now that I am back in the states, I have had a few experiences. The first one, months after my return to the states, was with a fellow CSer and best friend, hosting two French business majors who were coming to my university for the semester. It was great because even though I was a senior, I still had the fun of first time experiences with them, as we went to some bars that I had never been to before as well as see the campus I thought I knew so well in a new perspective.

Once I moved here to Bloomington I have had the opportunity to host two great people!

So while I can no longer host due to a recent move here in town, I do hope to still be involved in some form or another when I can.

Interests

Ever since I was a kid I have loved math, science, and art, so that is why right now I am in Architecture, a nice combination of those interests. And after almost two years working in the real world so far, getting the chance to see the projects I have worked on be built is quite an awesome feeling!

I am also a nerd, could kill hours playing board/card/pc/video games. Reading, drawing, musical activities, computer programming. Biggest issue is not enough time.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love to read when I can, but time was hard to come across when in school. However now that I am working so much, I am getting some more opportunities but not nearly as much as I hoped for.

Not really picky when it comes to music, don't prefer most country, but some of it is good. The most recent trend has been to listen to WGLT, the jazz station in town, and really appreciate the music.
