About Me

CURRENT MISSION

on a journey of self-discovery

ABOUT ME

I get excited about new things very easily and it doesn't take long before I decide to throw whatever I'm doing behind and embark on a new adventure. I have a goal-oriented personality and the feeling of being-on-a-mission empowers me.

Since traveling has always been my passion I'd found a way to travel for a living and moved to Dubai for a flight attendant job for the Emirates Airlines. It was only ever meant to be a 1-maybe 2-year-long adventure, yet I got caught up in the lifestyle and lasted almost 4 years. As of recently (Sep 2019) I've taken on a new adventure - still based in Dubai, but this time introducing organic and sustainable Nepalese body care products to the local market. Check us out: www.abarofsoap.earth

I am hoping that by travelling the world and getting to know all different kinds of people together with their passions, dreams and desires, I will keep getting inspired and over and over develop that slightly irritating, yet equally pleasurable itch for adventure that wouldn't let go until I scratch it.

PHILOSOPHY

Very much under construction.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hosted people while living in Oxford, Amsterdam and Warsaw.
Now in Dubai it's a bit tricky, since I live in a family building.

I occasionally come to the local CS meetings and I’m always willing to give advice on the must-sees and must-dos, as well as local transport options etc.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My first-ever CS experience was in the summer of 2011 in Trieste, Italy, where I found a great great host Federico. I probably couldn't have come across a better person to introduce me to the CS-world, since Federico was a supporter and active member of the CS-community, and what follows, of course - a truly amazing and inspiring person.
Subsequently, my friends and I have been hosted by a number of other great individuals during our travels round Italy and also in Stockholm, Budapest, Cambridge, Munich and Mexico.

Interests

Dance dance dance, different styles and forms of dance;

Human mind and behaviour - why do certain people think the way they do and to what extent can we re-programme our mind.

Cognitive control - are we really in charge of our reasoning? The enigma of emotions - a tool, guiding cue or the ultimate goal? Can/should emotions ever be rationalised?

Ethics and morality; science and religion - as individual topics as well as a debate between two systems;

Spirituality, self-discovery, self-development.

Music, Movies, and Books

Since I love dancing I love music that makes me dance and this encompasses a whole wide range of rhythms and melodies, but I have a particularly soft spot for anything latino.

I usually read books that friends recommend to me, can't say I have a favourite genre. I loved "The story of B" by Daniel Quinn and I'd call it a must-read for everyone with an even remote interest in spirituality, philosophy, anthropology and/or sustainability.
Right now I’m mid-way “Half the World Away” - a story of 27,000 km bicycle journey from Alaska to Argentina by Ian Lacey, whom I had a pleasure to meet in Kathmandu. Still can’t believe that this quiet Irishman is behind such an engaging read. Think a mix of “Into the Wild”, “Wild” and “Tracks” (minus the camel).

Movies - dramas, costume/period dramas, adventure, documentaries

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The world bodypainting festival, where I had a chance to be a model was a pretty awesome experience, check out the details and gallery over here: http://www.bodypainting-festival.com/en/

I've also been an extra in Joe Wright's “Anna Karenina”. I only appear on the screen for a few seconds, but being on the movie set for a large-scale production was an incredibly exciting experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I could try and teach you some dance moves and/or exercise techniques, since back in the days I had an episode of working as a fitness instructor.

Always keen on doing sports together.

Also, an eager partner in deep discussions from dusk 'til dawn.
