Overview
About Me
Hello!! We are Aarohee and Omkar! We're a married couple, living in Thane, Mumbai (India).
I am a Dubbing and Voice Over Artist, a Singer and a Film Producer as well. My husband Omkar is a Cinematographer. We both absolutely love to travel and explore new places. It is our collective dream to travel to as many places in the world as we can!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Both of us are very curious about exploring not just a new physical locality, but to explore the cultural aspect of every place we visit! We're more of 'travelers' than 'touristes' by nature. As much as we'd love to visit the famous tourist attractions, we are much more interested in exploring the local life- local cuisine, local homes, the everyday living, the work life, local transport and commute and the like. We feel that Couchsurfing would be that perfect platform to be at a new place and explore it from its core rather than just a short trip. We intend to stay at each destination for a good number of days so that we can experience how it is actually like to LIVE there!

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: Indian Pop/ Bollywood, Indian Classical, Jazz, House Music, Contemporary and Classical Fusion, Sufi
Movies: Since we are filmmakers by profession, we're both obviously BIG film buffs.
While I'm more of a slice-of-life/ Rom-com movie lover (a Bollywood maniac really); Omkar would absolutely love a good documentary and is an ardent fan of horror films!
Books: I am not much of a reader, but yet again, a slice-of-life fiction story would be my ideal read; while Omkar loves to read suspense thrillers and mysterious horror stories.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
As a Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi dancer (traditional Indian classical dance forms), at the age of 13 years I performed 'Tarangam'- a 20 minutes' dance performance accompanied by live music that involved dancing while standing on a brass-plate, balancing lit lamps in each of my hands and a lit lamp placed in a brass-pot on my head!
Omkar's proud moments would be his Sky-diving experience, as well as filming a documentary while traveling all across India in trains for 17 days at a stretch.
We've both also Scuba-dived together and loved it!
Teach, Learn, Share
I would absolutely love to share all the yummy Indian food recipes; as well as share my knowledge of the Indian languages Hindi and Marathi.
My husband would love to share his knowledge of camera and photography, since he carries his camera everywhere he goes!
Together, we'd both love to cook meals for you!
We would really like to explore the place, visit the museums and other cultural places, attend local music concerts/ performances/ plays, watch locally produced regional films, go for food-trail-walks, try out local restaurants, cafes and pubs.
What I Can Share with Hosts
- Indian food recipes, my love for cooking and cooked meals!
- I could even sing for you, if you like!
- Photography and cinematography skills
- An active helping hand in any of the household chores- cleaning/ cooking/ organising
With your consent, we would absolutely love to make a short 1-2 minutes video-film about our experience of staying with you! It would be a little token/gift-of-appreciation from us for you at the end of our visit! :)
