About Me
ABOUT ME
I'm a college student who took a gap year from university a few years ago to travel across Asia. Did everything from spotting wild rhinos in northeast India to drinking fermented mare's milk with Kyrgyz nomads to hitchhiking through the Cambodian jungle in a makeshift tractor made of planks strapped to a motorbike engine.
After all this time on the road, I want the chance to give back and help and host other fellow travelers. School takes up a big chunk of my time, and I'm currently living with roommates, but if you're a hitchhiker or cyclist or other traveler I'll definitely try to give you a place to crash.
PHILOSOPHY
"The mountains are calling and I must go."
- John Muir
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Met some of the most incredible and generous people in Asia over my last ten months of traveling.
Now that I've come to the end of the road, I want to give back, help out other travelers
For me and for the people who introduced me to couchsurfing, this site has never been about a free place to stay but instead about cultural understanding, travelers helping out other travelers, and all of us making this already small world smaller
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Nothing but great experiences all around. I've surfed city high-rises, straw-mat floors in cramped student apartments and one-room farmhouses in the Indian desert.
Interests
Grew up running, trekking, camping, skiing, rock climbing and just generally exploring the mountains and deserts of New Mexico and the American Southwest
Played trumpet for ~10 years. Did some really cool jazz stuff in Chicago, trying to learn improvisation and music theory better
Became a pretty dedicated meditator (mostly vipassana, but trying to learn some more concentration/samatha techniques) - spent a month in a Burmese monastery practicing vipassana
Picked up a math major at college, playing with abstract things that don't actually exist in the real world
