Overview
About Me
I'm a musician and I enjoy writing. I'm fairly easygoing and try to keep my mind fairly obligation free. I really don't like to succumb to the pressures of placed on me by the fast pace of this world, so I take my time with things.
As is evidenced by my presence on this website, I love travelling to new places and meeting new people and indulging in all of the consequences thereof.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to host people and I want to travel. If you happen to be around the mindlands, I'll be happy to show you around, provide you with breakfast etc. . . I love that feeling of sharing experiences with people who have been on some adventure. The buzz that follows them in, as though all of the dust of the roads they have walked and all of the experiences they have had came with them in all of their fullness as they tell stories and their eyes light up.
The other reason I'm on here is that my aim is to motorbike to South Africa this year, and I'll need places to stay. Plus I just get up and go places sometimes and it would be cool to have somewhere to go when I do that.
Interests
I'm play guitar and write my own songs. This is one of mine. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EkxlQfOBjjk
And this is a cover of Ain't no Sunshine I did:
I love writing and reading. I read old books mainly, I don't really like a lot of new ones. They tend to be a bit lazy and seem to just want to sell themselves rather than writing for the sake of the pure love of writing.

Music, Movies, and Books
My favourite books are Seamus Heaney's Clearences and The Essential Rumi, which are compilations of poems by my favourite poets. I don't watch movies that much, although I did really enjoy 'This is England', which is directed by Shane Meadows, who I admire for his down-to-earth and not-monetarily-driven (I'm stretching the legitimate use of the hyphen there, I'm sure) approach to film making.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I drove around Europe in a campervan and parked up wherever I felt like - the top of mountains, next to lakes and rivers. Wherever. I went all the way from Amsterdam to the very bottom of Germany, stopping in Austria, Switzerland, Marseille, Black forest, Neuschwanstein and a few other places in France on the way back up. It was awesome.
