Overview
About Me
21 year old Economics and German Linguistics student at the University of California, Berkeley, originally from Sacramento, California, who's passionate about living and always excited to meet a fellow person-lover and day-seizer. My life consists of hiking, soccer, cooking (I try!), and language/economics studies. My travels are admittedly thus far limited, however what I lack in experience I make up for in ambition and openness. If you haven't already noticed, I'm a person who recognizes his own weaknesses and limitations, and then proceeds to completely ignore them on his way to happiness. I hope that we meet some day and we change each other forever. Until then!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I want to learn more about myself and grow as a person by meeting new people, discovering new places and gaining new perspectives of the world. Of course we should all be doing that everyday of our lives whether we're traveling or not. I'm just of the opinion that Couchsurfing makes it that much easier(: We share a beautiful Earth with incredible cities and pristine natural wonders. All you gotta do is step outside, find a friend, and the world is yours!
EXPERIENCES COUCHSURFING
Nothing but amazing people in Leipzig, Dresden, Prague, Vienna, Klagenfurt, Salzburg, Vaduz, and Tübingen! Hoping to host starting next month when I'm back in Berlin.
Interests
I love being outdoors, whether that means strolling through the city, hiking through the mountains, or simply playing soccer/frisbee in a park.
I'm a talker. I thrive on long conversations about the widest range of topics: current political challenges, personal triumphs/challenges, anecdotes that have shaped us as people, sports chatter, life's "biggest questions" and well pretty much everything and anything in between.
My love affair with languages is relatively young yet . I'm passionate about the power of language: how it can help foster understanding and thus bring people together who otherwise would never have met each other. As a native English speaker I'd like to learn other languages not because have to or because it'll land me this or that job. In fact, I don't think you can learn one that way. My passion runs simply on the love for the language I am studying and the culture(s) surrounding it. Personally, I am currently working on my German [advanced] and French [beginner] (both beautiful languages in their own way). I hope to turn this passion into a lifelong career teaching abroad and promoting multilingualism in locations where it's currently not so valued.
Oh and I like (eh hem...try) to cook and love experimenting with new dishes from different cultures and wacky flavors.
