About Me

Hey there!
I'm teaching English in Korea for a year (or maybe more) to work out my travel bug. I am a VERY curious person and I'm on here to learn as much as to travel. I studied writing in college and I'm hoping to get back to it some day. I'd love to come ask you a million questions about your home town. I'm happy to answer whatever you'd like in return.

Happy Surfing!
-Aaron

Music, Movies, and Books

ugh this is always so difficult...

MUSIC
At the moment, I'm listening to a lot of Run The Jewels. LOVE Beyonce and Kendrick Lamar. I like pop-punk ladies too so Tega and Sara, Girlpool, Waxahatchee, Diet Cig, The Regrettes etc... are usually on heavy rotation. What else... Leonard Cohen, Beatles, and Jazz since I was very young... rediscovering trip-hop apparently they call it lofi now and it's very good friends with anime. Go figure.

I also run through a lot of pop edm stuff literally, I use trashy dance music as gym fuel :)

Finding music abroad is also a great part of traveling here's what I've picked up abroad
Tinariwen, Ah-Wa, Coeur De Piret, Stromae, Nujabes,

BOOKS
reading a lot of korean stuff these days The Vegetation by Han Kang, I Hear Your Voiceby Young Ha, and the The Interpreter by Kim Suki (Korean American). Also into fantasy Sci-Fi half way through Brian Staveley's The Emperor's Blades.

MOVIES
Marvel completionist, Fifth Element is a perfect film, so is Dead Man and Serenity.

Teach, Learn, Share

English lessons? I've never taught true beginners so let's stay away from that. (correction - I have now started teaching true beginners... let's still stay away from that.) However, back home in Boston I taught adults/university students for several months and now am teaching elementary students in Korea so my experience runs the gamut.

I have some background in rhetorical, film and lit analysis too, so if you want to nerd out with me on that I'd love to chat.

What I Can Share with Hosts

The groceries? I really am interested in learning everything. If you cook lets split the bill and cook a meal. Like hiking? Museums? Drinking? Let's do it. I make a mean mole chicken and I can teach you all the drinking games I learned in college. We can talk politics, history, theater, or all three - what up Hamilton.
