ABOUT ME

Live to learn!

PHILOSOPHY

"Maybe you can't change the world by your actions alone, but you can change yourself. And when you do, the world around you might also change in the very act of attempting to understand you, just as we try to understand one another."

-John Francis

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm always excited to meet interesting people in my community and the world abroad!

I usually participate by showing people around my city and hanging out whenever I can.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been a member for quite a while, but haven't actually hosted or surfed. I have heavily benefited from friends who have hosted variety of unique people.

But it's time for me to take the plunge. There's couches to be crashed, people!

Interests

Rock music, hiking, bicycling, vegan cooking (no worries, not smug or self-righteous about it), nutrition, keeping up on current events, pub trivia, technology, meeting new people, experiencing new cultures, laughing, learning anything, oh, and traveling!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Biked solo from Phoenix to the Grand Canyon on a 3-day trip during the Summer '13. It was all uphill. The scenery was drop-dead gorgeous, but my legs had a hard time getting sentimental.

Crashed a favella dance party on a floating island bar on the Rio Negro while staying a hostel in Manaus, Brazil. As the only polar bear on the barge bar I blended in seamlessly with the locals.

Designed and built a 60' concrete bridge to assist a rural Guatemalan community cut off by flooding from hospitals, schools, and markets during the rainy season.

Won a national Green Energy competition by proposing energy retrofits to Milwaukee's Sprecher Brewery (yes, there was plenty of sampling...I mean, research, tasty research).

Countries I’ve Visited

Brazil, Guatemala, United States
