Overview
About Me
I'm 30, from a little bit of everywhere but grew up in Colorado.
Currently living in Denver and teaching English literature to squishy-brained 9th graders.
Trying not to get too stuck in one place. Trying to see as much of the planet as I can.
I think the most important thing we can do on this planet is create. Part of that is creating experiences with places and people, and then sharing these with others.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Every couchsurfer I've met has been a wonderful human. I hope to meet some more beautiful people during my travels, as well as to share the part of the world I call home at the moment.
Interests
I love writing and reading all kinds of things, exploring big seedy cities, hiking mountains and strolling countrysides, splattering paint on a wall every now and then, making sounds come out of guitars and pianos; sittin' on porches in mornings with coffee, sittin' on porches in evenings with booze. sittin' on porches with nothin' at all but my own thoughts and something’ pretty to look at. All in all, I just love adventuring and learning and participating with the world.

Music, Movies, and Books
Movies: I love the Coen Brothers! Barton Fink is my favorite. I also love almost everything Wes Anderson's ever made. Everything Jack Nicholson touches turns to gold.
Music: I'm all over the map, and music is a big part of my life. I try to seek out new music pretty often, but also have my foundations and my go-tos. I love Neil Young. Always a big fan of the National. I also love hip hop. Mac Miller RIP.
Books: See comments on music. I also teach the books so it's a hard question to narrow. Currently my favorite book is Cabin at the End of the World. Philosophy-wise, I love them beatniks. Franny and Zooey is one of my favorites. Vonnegut's great. I also like Haruki Marukami and Milan Kundera. And Mo Yan, since coming to China.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I spent two amazing and super-difficult years living in the wondrous little town of Ya'an in Sichuan province, China, working for the U.S. Peace Corps. Trying to learn how to teach for the first time while simultaneously learning survival Chinese while also just being in chaos China was total chaos and I miss it every single day.
In recent days: I spend almost all of my time working at a high school. It better be amazing as it's the hardest damn thing there is on this earth.
