About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'm living in SLC and frequently traveling to other places, to visit friends, family, and occasionally to present quantitative research on psychotherapy processes and outcomes.

ABOUT ME

I'm a good person, but my cat is pure evil. I live vicariously through him. I like to try to play unfamiliar musical instruments.

PHILOSOPHY

Like Christopher Hitchens, I live mostly for the love of irony, and gloating over the misfortunes of others. Actually, I am passionate about supporting people's happiness and I am committed to social justice. I am studying to be a scientist and a therapist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I will come visit you! You will come visit me! I am a very gracious guest and a respectful and enthusiastic host and tour guide.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've done quite a bit of couchsurfing hosting, although you can't tell by my profile. My ex wife and I hosted several dozen surfers here in Austin and in Amherst/Northampton. Unfortunately for me, she inherited the profile. So, I have to start afresh.

Interests

I write and play music, I like to eat and sleep and exercise, I like words (talking and joking and word games) and I can work on cars. If you have a really, really, really nice couch for me to stay on and you happen have car trouble, this could be mutually beneficial.

Music, Movies, and Books

Nonviolent Communication, The King and the Corpse, Malcolm Gladwell, John Updike, Nicholson Baker

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A while ago, in the woods, I watched a turtle eat a very large mushroom, incredibly slowly. It probably took a half hour.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach automotive repair/rebuild/maintenance. I can definitely teach music, and how to play the guitar and other instruments. I'm learning about counseling psychology. I can sort of teach yoga. I can tell you all about buddhist meditation technique. I want to learn how to do that really loud whistle some people can do.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Openness, camaraderie, cooking, music, and my joie de vivre.

Countries I’ve Visited

France, Germany, Mexico, Switzerland

Countries I’ve Lived In

Ghana, United States
