About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Hitch-hiking (hopefully) up from Greece to Poland via Bulgaria, Romania, moldova, and Ukraine. On this trip, I want to try a bit more couchsurfing which is something I always say but don't usually do.

ABOUT ME

I am easy to get on with and I'm looking to take away as many experiences as I can from my travels. I love music (rock/ electronica/ indie) and going to gigs and bars & clubs and reading anytime I get a spare minute. If I'm not holed up reading or writing then I enjoy nature, hiking etc. I'm fun sometimes and interesting sometimes and always laid back.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that although you cannot always choose what happens in life you can always choose how you will handle it. I also believe that the universe and life is something special and that we need to make the most of every minute.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Find out info from locals; to go places that aren't in the Forbidden Planet but are part of peoples lives. I will occasionally surf but I've only done that once or twice so far (both great experiences)

Now I've recently moved to Chongqing and after many years as a nomad finally have my own place so I can give back to the community. It would also be nice to meet some backpackers as I'm out that circle for now and it would be good to hear the stories and remind myself of the joys of life on the road. Anyone is welcome if I see the message in time.

Interests

my passion in life is writing and reading (an travelling). more or less everything. like anyone i like going out with friends to bars, clubs and gigs. i read a lot so have wide range of interests.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books (Nicole Krauss, Safran Foer, Samantha Hunt, Papillion, The Dice Man, Keroauc, Burroughs, Dostoevsky, Hardy. I also like reading physics, psychology and philosophy books. Viktor Frankl and Marcus Aurelius being two of my favourites for their positive outlook.

Films (seventh seal, eternal sunshine of a spotless mind, it's a wonderful life, one flew over the cuckoo's nest, underground, everything is illuminated)

Music (tonnes of stuff, i'm a real music junkie, i love music from the 80s and loads of current alternative music. Leonard Cohen, Velvet Underground, Pavement, Pixies, Depeche Mode etc)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went Volcano boarding, which involved going down a 1000 foot active volcano in Nicaragua at 80km per hour and I walked the plank in the sky in China which is pretty impressive as I'm scared of heights. I am always looking for new experiences and also to learn new things. I like to see all sides of life and meet all types of people

Teach, Learn, Share

Even in the worst shit-holes, there is always someone seeing beauty. Try to remember to always be that person.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories. Cooking. I've picked up a few recipes from my travels and am keen to learn more.
