One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Fling from Istanbul to Baghdad, we were running a collision course with dawn. My friends and family, if you are looking for the land of the quick sunrise, I have found it. The desert, despite its bad reputation is beautiful. The light before dawn seems to stretch all the way around you. It is an impossibility to distinguish where the sunrise actually will be without a compass. The full emergence of the sun took a whopping 45 seconds from crest to full. I have flown into the sunrise many times, but this was incredible.
