One life to live? Not enough time!

ABOUT ME

Hey! I am an outdoors man at heart and spend as much time as I can exploring the wilderness of where ever I Happen to be living. When I am home in Alaska for the summer, this is pretty easy and I usually spend 30 days or so each summer Canoeing. When I am at university in Montana, most of my exploring is done on my snowboard. Unfortunately, the wilds of England aren't as accessible so I've been a bit deprived lately.

My other big diversions involve frisbees. Ultimate frisbee is my big team sport, and I travel quite a bit for tournaments. I love the competition and the community, and most of my good friends have been made on the frisbee field. Disc Golf is also a big distraction for me, so if you like to huck plastic I can show you the local courses.

PHILOSOPHY

People take too much for granted. I think life is best lived by accepting what you have and making the best out of it. I feel extremely lucky to have been born in a developed country. I've seen people starving; I can't ever recall not having food or drinking water for a single day. Because of this, I never let my spirits down. How could I without having a guilty conscience?

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I love to host when I can, which isn't often unfortunately. All of my hosting experience has been spontaneous so far, and both have resulted in late nights chatting.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

A highlight is the first surfer I hosted, who surprised me a bit. I was having a party that night so he got a crash course in the local nightlife. A few months later, my sister and I had a chance to surf with him in London. Its a small world, and CS is only making it smaller.

Interests

Trying new things. I will try almost anything once, especially foods. I am always planning my next adventure, what is life without something to look forward to?

Music, Movies, and Books

I am a dork. Star Wars, Steven King, Frank Hebert, Tolkein. Mainly, sci-fi and science. The Origin of Species is dense, but awesome.

I am game for pretty much anything when it comes to music, but I must admit I have a soft spot for Simon & Garfunkel.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few years back, I was hiking with some of my friends in Denali National Park, and a particularly noisy fly woke me up very early in the morning. I got up to shoo the fly, and when I exited my tent I saw that Denali was out in full. Seeing the most massive (not height, but size) mountain in the world just blew me away. Having to look up at something that was 25 miles away was mind boggling.

Teach, Learn, Share

How to throw a frisbee! Its my favorite way to make friends! Also, almost anything camping related. I LOVE to learn how to cook new foods, but I find recipes boring. Who even uses them anyways?
