About Me

The most important thing you need to know about me is that I tend to be a tad cynical at times. Though I haven’t crossed the borders of India I try to keep myself updated about the happenings around the globe. I’m a story addict and would love to hear your stories.

I’m so much fascinated by this country I call home that traveling through its vastness from south to north and west to east and everywhere in between is my greatest ambition. As much as I love sightseeing I love people seeing equally. By which I mean I like to watch people go by their daily lives, the way different people interact with each other and help and love and hate each other. No, I’m not a stalker just an anthropology enthusiast. Learning people is kinda my domain.

I have a dog who I consider my daughter and have huge love to all dogs and people who love dogs. Other animals are okay too, but I eat some of them and don’t want to get attached to my prospective food.

I’ve lived in 5 South Indian states and now am looking forward to visiting north/northwest/northeast places. Even though I identify myself as an atheist I have respect for all religions and do love visiting temples, shrines, churches and all kind of religious places. I’m especially enamoured by the intricacies and architectural brilliance of Dravidian temples.

There is a special place in my heart for all festival, carnivals, flea markets and village exhibitions. Love the way colour and laughter mingling with the land during those village fairs. I’ve had the best hosts in the rural villages of Tamil Nadu and had to deal with cheating creeps in Chennai. Likewise I’ve met honest to god people in Mysuru and downright mean people in Bangalore. People, when they have less to gain and even lesser to lose lead quality, honest lives, I’ve found during my time on road.

***To Prospective Hosts***

Hi there, thank you for considering to host me. These are some of the details I think you would like to know about me before extending an invitation.

1. Please know that I’m not a sufferer in silence kind of person. Small talk doesn’t come naturally to me but I would love to discuss with you anything from politics to religion to history to books. And I’m a great listener. So feel free to be your chatty-katty self.

2. I travel alone partly because I like the obvious freedom it gives in terms of travel choices and partly because I can go on days without talking to people and be happy about it. Please do understand if I refuse an offer to a social event.

3. I love cooking and if you’re brave enough to try I would love to make you dinner. Also please share with me your recipes so that when I get back home I could impress my husband and daughter with my cool dishes from around the country.

**PS** I’m not comfortable sharing a bed with another person irrespective of their gender.

Music, Movies, and Books

I’m a fantasy nut. From Tolkien to Sanderson I’ve read my fair share of fantasy books.
Love jazz music.
Not have much patience with movies, exceptions are there though.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I’ve recently started traveling alone and it took me 25 years to build up enough courage to do this. This is the single most amazing thing I’ve done so far.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Stories of people I’ve come across so far and tidbits of life as a solo woman nomad.
A nice no nonsense conversation over coffee or wine.
And any of the books I happen to carry with me.
