About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Preparing for the trip back home.

ABOUT ME

I'm a quiet, peaceful and tolerant guy, who is not skilled in trying to figure out what to say about himself. I'm from Finland but right now, thanks to Finnish bureaucracy I'm stuck between Canada and Finland being unable to stay in either country permanently. That is not because I'm a criminal but because my country does not accept my girlfriend to live with me at the moment.
I joined couchsurfing inspired by a friend who has been a member since 2007. Thanks to him and CS I've met many interesting and nice people from various countries so I decided to start hosting myself. I met some really nice people in just a few months in 2013 and joining couchsurfing has really helped me to the best experiences of my life.

PHILOSOPHY

Do what you love and love what you do even if you don't love to do what you do.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted around 40 people, so I have a relatively good experience of how couchsurfing works. I like sharing my experience of the places I've traveled.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only been a member since beginning of 13 but already it has made my life better. Let's say that some of the most important people to me are ones that I met via CS. I think that's pretty good.

Interests

I do amateur action-packed movies with my reliable crew:

Personally I do directing, acting, editing, cinematography, costumes, scripting and probably everything what comes to filmmaking.

I also like photography. I'm one of those people who have always had a kind of natural instinctive drive for hunting and catching things. But I don't like killing anything, so I use my camera for shooting and capturing. You need to be fast, steady, quiet, patient and also accurate to get a good shot. It's like hunting without killing, so a perfect solution for me. I have a basic digital system camera that I also use in filming. At best I am a decent photo taker but I compensate my lack of skill by taking loads of shots :) I usually photo animals and nature in it's all wonderful forms and colors. I've never had the eye for landscapes. Even before I had a camera I loved the forests and lakes and hills. And of course any animals I would get to see. As a kid I loved trying to tame wild animals and I had a little progress with that. I still love walking in the forests and reading all the signs that are written in the different languages of the nature.

Also, I love playing and singing. It has become more and more important and also interesting to me with time. I've seriously been doing it just since 2013, even though I've been playing the guitar since 2005.

I am a vegan, but I allow people cooking and eating what they please at my place. I will just make you very, very guilty for your appetite! Nah, just kidding, it's fine with me to eat anything. Veganism is kinda stained with the picture that vegans are judgemental about any other way of eating. My view to that is that I got lucky when I had the chance to learn so much. It's not easy at all to be sure what is good and bad in the overwhelming flood of varying information. Of course I don't like animal cruelty or starvation and diseases but who does? So I do think it's the optimal diet for any human to eat vegan, considering health and everything else, but as long as I'm not perfect myself I ain't gonna nag about anyone else's eating habits.

I also like conversation, different cultures and arts like pro wrestling and comics. I do some martial arts training and weight training to remain in a decent physical shape. I think the contrast of hard work and the earned relaxation and pleasure is the key to enjoying the life in the moment. That chocolate tastes better when your muscles are sore and you can't really move even if you want to...

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite movies vary a lot. To mention a few: The Lion King, Shawshank Redemption, the Expendables(both) Space Jam, Harry Brown, Deliverance, the Gladiator, the Dark Knight, Watchmen, Sharpe series, Braveheart, Lethal Weapon, the Last of the Mohicans and the Sixth Sense.

I like mostly rock, but also pop, country, native and orchestral music. My favorite bands or artists... I guess I should mention Queen, Bruce Springsteen, Iron Maiden, Viikate, Manowar, Van Halen, Scorpions, Sabaton and Sonata Arctica.

My favourite books are by J. R. R. Tolkien and James Dickey.

My favourite comic book characters are Batman and Tex Willer. Reading comics also inspired me to start drawing but those skills never developed really high.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seeing the 800 year old tree in Cathedral Grove. It's pretty weird to think that the tree was standing on that very spot before Columbus sailed to the continent with Santa Maria. It's just really cool. And the surroundings there... amazing. It's worth seeing for sure.

Teach, Learn, Share

Shared joy is the best. All I know and can is available. It's hard to really list things that I think I can teach to people. Well, I know a thing or two about birds so about them I can probably teach something. And music. I love sharing, teaching and learning it.
